That 'appears' to be a Baby Chiefs Special, at least at first glance. It is a five-shot flat latch, anyway. Value relies heavily on condition. A few more pictures would help with estimating that for you. Also, does it come with a box, papers, tools? And do all of the numbers match, including the grips?
From the one picture, it looks pretty nice. If the other side is as nice, I would say value would be in the area of $600 upwards, depending on the answers to the above questions. Just an opinion based on scant information.

All #s match grips, barrel, frame, and cylinder. The bluing is worn on the outside of the trigger guard and light wear on the back strap. There is bluing wear on the top of the gun near the rear sight, and wear at the barrel also added photos

How about a serial number? Sure would help to identify a Baby Chief other than a dark picture. Big Larry

The most prominent feature of a Baby Chief's is the small trigger guard.

...and that is most easily seen in photos of the gun from the left and/or right sides.
Those views were not included in the photos the OP posted.
So some more photos would be very helpful to anyone trying to help identify this particular revolver.

A five-screw, five-shot J frame with the cylinder almost filling the frame window is definitely an early Chiefs Special. The serial number is in the range for the smooth ramp front sight variation, and I don't think any other small frame fixed sight guns of that era had this.

Howdy, and welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.
12579 is most certainly a 5-screw (Baby) Chiefs Special.
S&W likely shipped that one in 1952, perhaps sometime between
May and August.
I'd guess its value at about $550.

Congrats!
The smooth ramp front sight is the 2nd style (and least made) after the 1/2 round 1st style and before the serrated ramp 3rd style front sight.
