Default .32 Winchester

When did S&W stop putting .32 Winchester on the barrel and switch to 32-20?

Well, you missed one in between.

From 1899 until c. 1913, the barrel mark was 32 Winchester CTG.
From c. 1913 until c. 1922, the barrel mark was 32 W.C.F. CTG.
From c. 1922 until the end of production, the barrel mark was 32-20 CTG.

Default example of bbl mark October 1921

Like Jack said........you missed the "middle" markings. My 32-20 WCF shipped in October 1921 per Roy

The company also moved the caliber marking to the right side of the barrel about the same time that they changed to 32 W C. F. CTG. I find it interesting how they abbreviated the caliber.
