Model 15 (?) ID Assistance
Can't seem to figure this one on my own so I defer to the expertise of the forum. Pretty sure it's a 15.
The revolver has no model marking, just a K162--- range serial. The muzzle is crowned in what appears to be a non factory form. Does this look like it has seen some modification?
Many thanks for any info provided!

That has a "High Speed" hammer (fishhook), so it's well before model numbers were assigned. The correct name is K-38 Combat Masterpiece.
Can't help with the crown photo, but the front sight looks properly attached.

It has a heavy barrel with wide rib, so appears to have been a K-38 Masterpiece with the barrel shortened to 4" and the Patridge front sight reattached. The barrel rollmark is in the correct location for a 6" barrel.
This was a somewhat common modification for LAPD officers back in the revolver era.

The front sight doesn't look like anything I've ever seen on a Combat Masterpiece... ...Ben

Great looking piece but has definitely been chopped from the original 6in barrel.
I bet it’s a great shooter!

Definitely cut, but cut to 4"? Looks longer, like the guns I had sawn off to 5" before IDPA reduced revolver barrel length.

The K167000 serial number puts it in 1953. Hence it cannot be a .38 Combat Masterpiece with that barrel profile. As others have noted, it is a K-38 Masterpiece with a cut barrel.
Not a bad piece, but certainly not in its original configuration.
