The revolver is a .38 Military & Police model that probably left the factory in the summer or autumn of 1948.

You are correct about the aftermarket stocks and refinished parts.

fastest in all the land...thank you so much...Chicago Police Officer's revolver gifted to me years ago...I am currently bringing my younger brother into the World of Firearms using it...

is it technically a K- Frame when searching for grips???...I thought I might buy some Pachmayr or Hogue rubber grips until I can find an alternative

thanks again!

Bill

You might check on the well-known internet auction site for square butt K-frame grips.

sadly not even close to fitting despite reading several reviews from old M&P owners...

I tried a set of Pachmayr's I had for my Model 19 from the late 1970's and they fit mostly but the hammer had some fit issues...of course the hammer is not an OEM either...
