Default S&W I-Frame 32 Hand Ejector Question

Hello Guys,
I've just acquired a S&W i-Frame 32 S&W Long Hand Ejector...
My Question ? Is the "Flat Latch" Cylinder Release upgradeable to the more modern looking J-Frame release lever?
Please advise and Thanks Much,
Mike...

It is, but you have to replace the bolt, thumbpiece, and the fastener that retains the thumbpiece. This is because the the flat thumbpiece is retained by a screw into the bolt, while the newer style is retained by a stud that is part of the bolt and a nut, that looks like a screw. Simple answer is yes, but it is complicated. Practical answer is no.

The side plate and hammer need to be removed to change the cylinder locking bolt and thumb piece. If you haven’t removed a side plate from a S&W revolver, google for a disassembly video.
