Well I am pushing 1500 now and was trying to think of a good Karma to offer my friends...so here is the deal.
I am posting this here as I tend to spend more time in this section than all the others
I will hit 1500 before the end of the week as I like to talk. Dig out the gun you've always wanted to letter for whatever reason and I'll pay for it. Here's the proviso's
1. You must post a pic of the gun
2. You must have 50 posts by the time I reach 1500. I have lowered this from 100 as we have some really good newbies here.
3. When I post the winner you must email me within 3 days or the Karma goes to #2. I always pick two winners as there has been a string of winners who dont respond.

OK Curtis, I'll enter. Here is a pic of my Mod. 67. I don't letter guns this new, but if I win and you pay, then I will.
Thanks for the nice offer.

I'll bite as well. I just recently aquired this one and I would like to know a bit more about it. It's an old Model of 1917 that has been, most likely, updated to make it some sort of target model. I'll leave something in my britches by accident if I find that it was originally in this configuration.
Thanks,
Bill

Well... Here's one I've put off (procrastinated) getting a letter on. One of the few pre-war's with the MARCA REGISTRADA marking on the side plate. This one (Model of 1926/.44) is all original and prob'ly has a couple stories to tell....

Thanks,
Mark

My newest S&W. This is one of those models for which the serial lists are vague and nonspecific so it's hard to pin down. I think it's from 1955 or maybe 1956 and since I was born in 1955 I'd like to see how close it is to my birthday.

I am going to ad something (and one post closer) when the time comes to Karma I will request a ship date on your gun from Roy, just to make sure there is something on it. The reason for this is there have been a few guns lately that are "open on the books" meaning there is no info available. If the first gun you pick is one of these I'll give you the chance to pick another.

Curtis: Here's my classic Pre-Mod 10 Serial Number S971XXX with matching grips. According to SCSW, post war production began at S769000 with S prefix ending at S990184 in 1948. I'm assuming therefore mine was made in 1948. However, SCSW also states post war guns contain S&W's 4 line address which this clearly does not; something of a mystery here. Wish it could talk Thanks for the opportunity...

I wish to enter your Karma. Depending on when you draw, I may be out of town and no access to my computer between May May 17 and May 23. (Shooting Prairie Dogs in S.D.)
Thank you very much for the opportunity, .38 M&P 1st Model, in 38 Special.

I don't have any "old" guns, although some of mine are older than a lot of the forum members.
I'm in with this 27-2. It's an S series, and I would like to know exactly what stocks it shipped with. I know it's had magnas on it at one time.

Curtis,
I be glad to throw in on this karme. I would do one of the three pictured, either the 2nd Model .44 HE (with incorrect grips) or one of the two Regulation Police (one in .32 the other in .38 S&W). I'll have till you draw to decide.
In the same spirit as was posted previously, I will do the same when I hit the 1500 mark.

Very generous offer!
I've read, on this forum, that there were only 171 Model 60-1's, made in 1972, that came with 3" barrels & square-butt frames. But have yet to see a letter on one. Maybe I could post the first?

Well y'all have really brought out some nice ones, and I appreciate those of you who are going to do the same at 1500 (I am holding you to that)
JHE888 THAT is a pre-27 even I would own and normally they dont do much for me.
We are all having a good time here and I really look forward to seeing someones letter, but lets not forget our brother DanM who has suffered a terrible setback.
I beseech all of you good people here to do what you can in way of donation to help Dan and his son. Trust me as I have been there, even $5 or $10 can be a big help.

An additional entry for your very generous offer. This is a clearly marked 629-2 yet I cannot find any reference in SCSW to one so marked in 3" RB. Serial Number (BBW) places it in late 88 - early 89 yet the Lew Horton run of 3 inch "Combat Magnums" marked 629-1 were years earlier (1985). Engraving may be factory but unsigned so can't tell for sure. A true mystery in need of a letter. Thanks for the opportunity...

Curtis,
Congratulations on your upcoming milestone.
Please include my very first S&W, purchased new in October 1966 - an early Model 36-1, s/n 456212.
SCSW-3rd reports that the 36-1 was introduced in 1967, so I may have one of the first produced. Purchased it in Washington, D.C. while on active duty. It was my constant companion for a year while serving in Viet Nam, and currently serves as my concealed carry ... so we're pretty "close"
Thanks for a wonderful karma,

I just saw this gun on your thread and was thinking to myself you need to add it in the hat...glad you did.
Alright folks I have hit the mark. I will let this run until tomorrow evening when I'll pick the winner. So if you want in I will cut it off at 5pm CST tomorrow.
S&Wj...sorry, but my rules state you must have 50 posts by the time I hit 1500 so in fairness to the others I gotta tosh your entry.
Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against newbies (we've all been there) but I set post requirements to incite people to contribute to the forum.
Dont worry, I like to "see" myself talk and do a karma like this about every 500 posts, so you'll get plenty of chances.
BTW...Welcome to the forum
