I've been trying to find out more about my Registered Magnum.

Thanks to Smith17 for offering to go to Granger and look around for me.

The letter from Roy says it was shipped to the Granger Texas PD. attn WJ Hruska Secretary, in 1937. There is a montage of Granger City Officials for 1931/1932 that has an EJ Hruska as the secretary. I suspect that someone hit a typewriter key one key over, since E is next to W. How should I ask Roy if he was the one? Should I just call him?

Smith17 also found a reference to a book, a collection of photographs from John Trlica, who was the only professional photographer in Granger, and who kept all 18000 or so of his negatives. They're at UT. I'm tempted to try to find a picture of someone carrying this weapon in there somewhere.

The book is called Equal Before the Lens. Mr. Trlica was happy to take pictures of anyone who would pay him a dollar for 6 postcard sized photos. Anglo, Hispanic, African American, or Czech, he didn't care. Fascinating pictures in the book, even though none of them featured a firearm.

glyp,

The error may be from several possibilities. It certainly might be from Roy or it very well might have been recorded incorectly on the original record. Remember, those records were hand written & their purpose was for inventory control at the time, rather than for our collecting curiosity. I'd just call Roy & ask him to verify it. You might wait awhile since I just got a notice that he is traveling this week.
