Picked this up a couple years ago just like you see it. Hammer has been reshaped, barrel cut down and rib added, rear sight blade added, grip bar added, kind of like a built in T grip...Converted to .45 Long Colt. Barrel is really clean inside with just some light shallow pitting in a couple spots, thing shoots great really a tack driver.Grips are jigged bone made to look like stag.Bluing is all original except for the rib on the barrel and the added bar.Action is smooth and awesome single action trigger pull. Paid $250 for it at a local shop here on consignment.I looked at it for a couple weeks before I finally bought it, Iam still trying to get used to the ugly rib and welded on t grip bar, though the bar feels pretty good with these grips!

Rib doesn't look so ugly and even the skeleton T grip add originality. Anyway they did a neat job.

Interesting work, and looks well done anyway. The barrel rib sort of reminds me of a RM. A one of a kind custom gun and at a great price.

Pontiaker,

Nice gun! Someone went to a lot of trouble to personalize it. I think it has character and reflects the thought that went into the custom touches. Whoever owned it had some practical ideas about what a good sixgun ought to be.

I forgot to mention it has a name on the backstrap of the grip frame, it has an H or an E and Keith on it, anyone know that name or who it could be?

Once it's customized there is no use crying about it.

As modified guns go, that one doesn't look bad at all. Whoever did the work was no butcher, at least.

The really odd part is that with all that customizing/demilitarizing, they left the butt swivel!

Actually the butt swivel was gone and the hole was plugged with a ittle piece of ivory. I knocked out the ivory plug and installed a spare swivel I had laying around.

I hate when people take a nice old gun and modify it! I think adding the swivel back probably ruined it's collectable value. (tongue firmly in cheek)

Nice find.

Appears to have been well done by a pro. I like it a great deal. Unique, and the modifications all make good sense. Enjoy!

I like it a lot. I find guns with period modifications extremely interesting and a viable collecting niche. I suspect that in 50 years, assuming that they can still own guns, people will be marveling about all of the things that we did to 1911s and lamenting the fact that most were not left original.

+1

I can hear it now "You'll have to knock 40% off the value of that 327PD no-dash, since some idiot removed the internal lock and plugged the hole, thereby ruining its collector value".

Matt,
At first glance, wasn't fond of it. But after looking at the pic several times, it kind of grew on me.

It has some "character" to it. Does it measure out as a four inch barrel?

As someone else mentioned if you ever want to........

Thanks
Dave

Gary:
The participle phrase in your 3rd sentence made me suddenly uncomfortable and will provide food for thought. The upcoming Supreme Court decision may be the most important one in a great while. The recent liberal decisions have me worried.

Pontiaker: Nice gun.

You are going to have to pass that gun around so we can all grip it and see how that "T-Bar" feels in our hands. They might be on to something we should put in the wishlist forum.

The barrel is actually 4 1/8th inches long. Thanks for the kind words guys. I would be happy to trade it for a .44 HE shooter! :~)

Reviving and old thread from the dead here, but I came across this in a google image search and I have to say I am quite interested in the gun.

If you still have it I would be fascinated to see a shot of the rear sight and what is going on with that hammer. It's a pretty masterful collection of modifications from a functionality standpoint.

Nice find.
I expect that when the modifications were done, it was merely a mundane 'used' Revolver, and not yet a 'nice old Revolver' with any collectibility.

If I had to take a guess, I would guess the mods were done in the latter 1930s or right after WWII.
