Grips for 2nd model 44 hand ejector, mediallions or not? The gun was shipped in 1925. I would like to know if I should look for service grips with or without mediallions and should the top be recessed (where the mediallions usually are)or not.

I had this same exact question a few months back. I even asked Mr. Supica at the Tulsa show about that. I have come to believe that Gold Medallion grips would be correct on the early 2nd Model .44 HE and the non medallion grips on the later ones. My experience is that the medallion grips that I've noticed were on the 2nd model 455 guns, but not the USA guns. I even found a nice set of Medallion grips at Tulsa for only $10 that matched the 2nd model that I bought at the show from Roy Ferguson (Toyman) from this forum. I'll have pics after my birthday (June 20th ). I think Mr. Jarrett chimed in on this subject not too long ago, agreeing that gold medallion would be correct for the early 2nd models.

Mr.? Jarrett??? Did my Dad come by here??
Gold medallions would only be correct on the EARLIEST 44-2nd's- and I mean EARLY, like during WW I, or IMMEDIATELY after. I have seen very early 1920's guns that were righteous which had NON-medallions.
So, by 1925, you will need non-medallion convex(not dished) grips.

That's likely too late for the non medallion grips. They were using silver medallions around that time. A letter from Mr. Jenks is the only way to be sure.

My .44 He 2nd Model lettered to 1924 and was shipped with non-medallion grips. I would think a 1925 model would be the same.

Gary,
Very interesting gun- one of the latest 2nd Models made, definitely one of the latest I have ever seen.
You know, when you think about it, the 44- 2nd Model actually shipped with MORE grip styles than any other N frame-
Gold medallion
Non-medallion
Large silver medallion
Magnas
The only style it did not ship with, in my observation, is the earliest- the non-medallion dished top or concave style of the earliest Triple Locks.
I suppose it is possible that some 1917 Commercials shipped early enough to have gold medallions, but I have never heard of one. Has anyone? If you show one, please be sure they are original.....
That, of course, would mean that it, too, had four variants.
