I can see it has the narrow rib. Mine is very accurate. It gets more use then the others in the safe. Very nice picture lay out, Larry

'48 was a great year. I can pretty much guarantee you'll love shooting it.

Beautiful revolver. Mine is a gem. It letters as having been shipped in February, 1948, although it has the one-line address.
Congrats on a great find.

Thats whats fun about the few years after the war. Kinda like Gumps box o' chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

That's true, isn't it? I was a little disappointed, though. Sure thought I was getting my birthday gun (1947) when I bought it. But I can still think of it as having been made then, I guess. Just a little slower than some in the motor development area.

Very nice K-22's gentlemen! Bellevance is correct about his Gump's box of chocolates statement about all Smith & Wesson models. Here is my K-22 1953, 2 years after my birth year.

I just picked up a K-22 with a gold box that dates to 1948.
It is deadly on empty shotgun shells at
25 yards

Nice gun, Terry.
This old dog (also a 1948) amazes me with its accuracy.

Nice K22, Terry! I think you'll find that the K22 is one of the finest target guns out there. I find the sights particularly conducive to accurate shooting - even with old eyes. Have fun with yours, Jerry

Nice K-22's. Thanks for sharing.
This thread got me so excited, that I pulled out a couple of my .22 cals ( 1950 pre-17 K-22 & a 1964 Colt Officers Model Match ) and re-oiled 'em.

Wow, that's really a beauty, Don. Original nickel? Pretty rare. I like those one-line-address guns for some reason, the simplicity, I guess. Nothing more need be said: "Made in U.S.A."
There are few totally reliable pleasures in this life, but a five-screw K-22 sure is one of 'em. Never get tired of looking at it or shooting it.

Great looking masterpieces! Here is my only K-22 Masterpiece - SN K550XX. I think that puts it in the late-1940's date range.

Another really great-looking Masterpiece, RK. The SCSW puts yours at 1948.

Best I can tell, mine is a 1948 manufacture according to Jinks' book in the chapter on K frames.

Hello Gentlemen.
First post and I'M happy to say it because I have just picked up a 99% condition five screw which has no model number stamped on it. It has a six digit serial number (No letters just numbers)and lower on the frame it appears to be the number #7. Its has a 4"inch barrel, counter bored chambers, large wooden diamond grips, and the barrel is pinned. As stated the condition and finish are perfect except a barely visible line by the cylinder notches. Price ran $400.00 OTD and I"m hoping it was a good buy. Not sure which year it was made but I hope she shoots as well as she looks.

My 1948 K22.The original owner had it engraved in Germany in the 1950s,custom thumbrest grips made at the same time.I replaced the grips with pre-wars to show the full extent of the engraving and silver wire work.
