I have come into posession of a S&W 45acp.

I strongly believe it is a Military model of 1950. I have the standard catalog of S&W by Supica and Nahas and on page 105 it pretty well describes this pistol.

I don't have pix to show but here goes.

It is nickeled, which I suspect was done later in it's life and was badly done and is starting to look bad.

The serial on the crane is different than the one on the butt. The one on the grip and the one on the cylinder match.

crane serial is S2223XX

grip frame and cylinder is 1473XX

top of the barrel reads ser. 1419XX

the butt states U.S. Army model 1917, with the above mentioned serial 1473XX.

Needles to say the grips serial does not match to any of the above numbers.

I strongly believe this is a put together gun.

What do you think?
