I've wanted one of these for the longest time. Well the squirrel finally found his nut. The series starts at 260001 and this is about as close as it gets for me. The pics are from the auction. The cost is irrelevent, I wanted it.

Once in a while, you have to say that. That's a nice revolver. Glad you found what you wanted.

Gorgeous gun, my friend.
I'd say it fared better the last 53 years than you and I.....
Probably hasn't had as much fun, though!

That's an investment grade gun, so too much- naaahhhh.
Too soon? doubtful.
They just don't come along. That gun is in the first 100 assigned numbers for the Combat Mag, and the first 100 assigned numbers for ANY 4 screw.
A milestone piece.

DW never heard of a pre19 ,I have however heard of THE COMBAT MAGNUM .

Congrats ,,and I know just what you mean. I just paid an exorbitant price for a 6" 19-2.

Never too much , only too soon.

Post your own pics when you get her. And how about a range report! .

If you want it, the cost isn't too high. That is one sweet six-shooter.

A milestone piece for sure. Congrats!

Just as I thought... no patience at all... Anyway - I hope you do enjoy that little sweetheart. The price will soon be forgotten and only the beauty of that old Magnum will remain. Congratulations,

Jerry

Good Gravy, that thing is like my wife - no word has yet been created that can fully describe its/her beauty.

Very nice sir and thank you very much for the pics,
Scott

Absolutely outstanding!! That's pretty much a Grail Gun for me. Some time ago I posted the story about the box for K260006 that I had and threw away. *sigh*

DW:

Congrats on what appears to be a beauty! As a 19 superfan, I followed that auction very closely and was happy to see that you took the plunge and pushed the buy it now button.

You are correct about the price - it will be quickly forgotten as you enjoy a great piece of history!

BTW, I have one of the 1st 100 as well (not as nice as yours) and with the 6 groove backstrap they really are cool....

Thanks for the comments everyone. It seems that my collecting interest has turned to first year production guns or oddities such as an 8 3/8 barreled model 15 or 5 inch model 14's. The probability of full filling this new quest is daunting but also quite satisfying. Never mind expensive. But it just gives me more time to save up the dough. I do have a few, very few, guns that I am going to let go to provide myself fodder for the next prize. The search could lead anywhere. I remember when the Jet I wanted just turned up out of the blue. Read my by line. "The best gun I ever found was the one I wasn't looking for." The guns are there. Finding them is the fun part.

I didn't know they let Yankees buy those things. Doesn't matter, if anybody deserves a great gun like that, its you. Congratulations!

THAT is remarkable. Numbered targets too. Great catch...a wise man once said,

Beautiful find! I love those matching numbers Smiths. I've got a .38/44 from the early '50's that all the numbers match. Enjoy your new purchase!
