Well I been looking and begging. Finally a private gun collecter-hobby gun show dealer brought me one of his private collection to look at. Well I went home with it.
That makes two, also have a 16-3. Which is the more rare, is it the 16-3?
Was there a 4 screw made? Would this be a M16 or a pre model, or both? Is this variation the most rare?
What wad cutter bullet is good for this revolver. I currently have Lapua, and will be loading them up soon. I shoot bullseye and hope to have a lot of fun with this and my other k-22's and k-38's. Man these are the greatest guns!
One of my K-38's is a 1947 with a Marine's name and number on the barrel, turns out this Marine was on the Marine pistol shooting team and used this wheelgun at Camp Perry! This gun shoots too.
Target Masterpiece, gotta love em.

Your revolver may be different, of course, but in my best .32 reloads I use the Speer swaged bullet. (Sometimes the Hornady. It is good, too.) The Speer doesn't look like much, but it sure shoots - at least at the shorter ranges. I have not tried it at 50-yards.
My best handloads so far have been with 700X powder and Remington 1-1/2 primers.
Just why is it that you did not favor us with a photo of your new pistol... ?
Any K-32 is worth a picture or two.

I use .32 wadcutter loads in NRA Bullseye matches in my Pardini .32.
The absolute best load I have ever tried...and it shoot GREAT in the 16-4 and the early .32 target HE's...is 1.4gr. VV310 and a H&N 100 gr. wadcutter sized at .312.

K32 5-screw is the most common by far, I have never seen an actual Model 16 or 16-1 marked guns (these would be 4-screw configuration) and they may not even exist as S&W could still have been shipping 5-screw K32 guns made prior to 1955 as late as the early 60's when the 16-2 three screw configuration guns were produced.

Congradulations on the find. Can't wait to see some pictures of it.
I've got a model marked 16, a 16-2 and a 16-3. No one I know of has found a Model marked 16-1 yet.

Hell yeah it is! Congrats on what sounds like a great pick up. Here's a photo of my pride & joy Model 16 no dash for the thread.

My opinion:
5 screw K-32's are the most common.
Next most common is the 16-3, probably because of a parts cleanup before dropping it.
Now, it gets tough to call. The 4 screw guns are scarce, both the Pre Model number 4 screws, and the Model 16 with no dash.
We don't know if a 16-1 exists. I have never heard of one.
The Model 16-2 is also scarce.
So, ranking the two 4 screw variants(Pre 16 and 16 no dash) and the 16-2 will require more research.
