What type of front sight is this?
This type of double-scalloped front sight is found on many target revolvers of the 'teens and '20s. Can anyone tell me what it is called and what its origins are?

There are several variants to this blade. The primary characteristic is the roll-like
top of the sight. Its like a very small-diameter rod makes up the top of the sight blade.
The different variations are the bead that is afixed to the rear end of that rod. There
are gold beads, ivory beads, and some with no bead.
