Another Jinks letter Karma Winner picked last post!!!!!
Ok...getting close to 2000 (I might catch D Burg some day) so time to do another Karma.
I gave a Jinks letter at 1500 at it seemed to go pretty good, so from now on every 500 I'll do the same.
Rules (you knew there'd be some)
1. You must post a pic of the gun you want lettered. For the technically challenged, you can email them to me and I'll post them for you.
2. You must have a minimum of 50 posts by the time I hit 2000. It is participation that keeps this thing going.
3. You must PM me within 3 days of me posting the winner with your info. I always pick 2 winners cuz there has been a rash of people not collecting their prize.
What you will get is a signed copy of the letter request from me (Jim I still owe you this) and I will have the letter addressed to you (or whom ever).
I dont care what you want to letter, but the reason I post this Karma here is you have a better chance of getting an interesting letter prior to 1961...especially pre-model guns. If you want to letter a modern gun that's fine...just know it was shipped to a distributor.
Saxon Pig...here's a chance for a letter that dont cost you nothing
Keith44spl is the winner...see my last post on the thread

I'll get in on this karma. This WWI round but M&P .38 came from an estate auction and I'm curious to find out if it has some local history.
Thanks for the karma opportunity,
Bryan

Great offer. It the picture actually attaches I'd like to enter this 1902 in 32 WCF into the drawing. This revolver spent some time out of the country as evidenced by the import stamp in the butt.

This one.
I bought this 1905 4th in Maine a few years ago, and was informed it had been the personal sidearm of (they said) a General in WW2. I have not yet lettered it. I know, I know...
Thanks for the opportunity, 29.

I might think of posting a photo of a revolver I would like lettered if I knew what "PM-ing" you afterward meant. Is it legal and moral? I'm not a computer geek or a heavy duty blog-aholic; this is the only forum I read. I really don't know what it means.

Thank you! I guess I'm a bit on the ignorant side when it comes to the short codes used in these kinds of forums.

If you have a gun you would like a factory letter on post a picture of it on this thread and if you win I will pay for the factory letter.
You can pm someone by clicking on their screen name and choosing the "Send private message" option. Its kinda like an internal email system built into the forum software.

I had this question PM'd me by Misty. I am not sure how far back Roy can research, so my answer is this. If you win the Karma and have an antique I will ask Roy if he can research it. If he cant, I'll let you pick a different gun.

I'll throw in this old dog:
I'm thinking it was sent to Kings after it saw service, but there's always that hope that it could be an original target.
Thanks,

I'd like to jump in with the Pre 27 my dad gave me. He bought it back in the 60's for $50 and passed it to me a few years ago. I'm trying to find some period correct grips for her now. Sorry for the Bad picture but here she is.

I just have to be different...

I already have a letter on this 1966 shipped Model 22 which saw hostile action in 3 countries, Vietnam, Israel, and Rhodesia. Thought it was cool enough to throw in for show and tell.

Karma
Sorry for the bad picture quality, Thanks for the GOOD KARMA!
This was my grandfathers .22, he passed away and left it to me,
It was the first handgun I ever shot and he also taught my Dad to shoot with it.
I only know that he traded a NAZI P38 for it from the war.
He said that they used to shoot pigeons in the area that is now the Giants Stadium in the NJ meadowlands in the 1940's.
If it could only talk...
By the way, I found out on this forum that it wasnt a piece of junk...
Its an original grip numbered Beakert, grip number 567, could it be part of the first batch?
Although I would enjoy knowing Grandpa's Beakert"s degree of "Beakertness" I do have another Smith that is one of those "If only it could talk" guns.
This Pre model 11 38/200 started life as a Lend lease gun sent to the UK to help them fight the NAZI's.
Ferried accross the Atlantic on a liberty ship it survived the Wolfpacks of U Boats that sent so many ships, sailors annd crates of Victory revolvers to the bottom of the ocean 70 years ago.
Where it landed in WWII one can only speculate, Germany, Italy, The south Pacific, We will never know.
After the war these Brit M&P's were pulled from service and auctioned to different buyers for export from a country that calls itself free but doesnt allow private ownership of firearms.
This one was purchased by the Parker Hale corp.
They refinished them, modified the cylinder to fire the .38 special round, removed the lanyard loop, sanded and removed the "Property of the USA" markings,
Nickle over the parkerizing, add a modern front site then sold them back to the same people that provided them free of charge to help protect their nation..
I would say that was a journey....

I've got a few I've been considering, but only have pics of one right now. This is a 4" Regulation Police with a round butt. This is an early post war transitional. According to Mr Jinks, the stepped sq. butt grips were deleted after the war, but this one is still on "I" frame with the leaf spring. The "catalog" makes no mention of 4" roundbutt Reg Police. The grips, bbl, cyl, yolk, extractor & frame are all serial numbered the same. So I would like proof that this is the way it left the factory.
Was also considering a blued 6" model 1896, & minty pre-24, if I get a chance before you pick the winner, I'll add some pics of them too- but they are pretty standard.

Only 2 that are worth lettering in my collection:
Performance Center 686 Hunter:
or a M&P 38 I bought from an elderly lady, was her husbands fathers who owned a drug store near here. Seem to date form about 1936.

To bad it has to be a S&W.
I just got my hands on a Colt "Lightening" model of 1877 that belonged to my wife's grandfather, sheriff of Creek County, OK right after Oklahoma became a state in 1907. Been in the family ever since so we know it's original. Guess I'll have to pay Colt for a letter on this one. Thanks for the contest.
