The description fits a .32 Hand Ejector. They were available in the 4.25 inch barrel you have, as well as 3.5 and possibly others and in blue or nickel finish. The most common stocks were black hard rubber, although they were also available with checkered walnut and mother of pearl as a special order. After market pearls are also not unusual on these guns.
Now one of the truly knowledgeable will tell you which model and change you have, but as Peyton mentioned, pictures are worth 1,000 words here, too.

Model of 1905 .32 Hand ejector
From the information that I have, due to fairly extensive research into the model (I own one), you have a .32-20 WCF Hand Ejector (Model of 1905 - 4th change). Manufactured between 1915-1940, serial number range is 65,701 - 144,684. I hope this is helpful information for you, it has taken me a few years to gather this much on mine .
My gun was also an inheritance, same model and caliber, 6" barrel - 2nd change, serial #36750. I just applied for the factory letter, so that I can authenticate the value and origin more precisely . I'm unsure of the family figure that may have owned it originally. Mine is a target model, worth 75% more than the short barrel, non-target variety. The .32 cal. is more scarce, but not necessarily more valuable, so far as I can tell. I've gun some very old ammo. also for the gun in the original box. I thought about taking it to the range, and went so far as to get some new ammo. (cowboy rounds), but haven't done so yet .
Does your gun have a square or round butt? I assume it is a short barrel, non-target model.

Leaping Lizard's reads 32 Long Ctg on the barrel (1st post) which is 4 1/4". It's an I frame. The 32-20 is a K frame.

This thread was 9 years old. Leaping Lizard doesn't appear to be around anymore.
