That's one fine looking holster! The gun is not too shabby either. Love those long barrels. Someday I hope to luck into a K 22 in 8 3/8. How does the sheepskin lining work out for you? Seems like it would keep from getting any marks or wear on the gun's finish at all. Do you have contact info for the gentleman that made it? I would love to have one to fit a 6" K 22.

Regards,

Now THAT'S a gorgeous rig!

In this world of synthetics, nylon and Kydex, it's so nice to see a vintage cowhide setup like that.

Bravo!

Default OK, I'll play

Here's my 24-3 with El Paso Saddlery holster, the belt is a money belt from a custom maker that I've forgotten who he is. It is extremely soft and I wear it all the time.

Then my 25-5 with the same rig and my always hunting knife in a custom shark skin sheath .

Next is my 27-2 in a George Lawrence rig, the BBQ rig that is.

For the evening out, suit and tie event, there's the Baby Cheif and a Berns Martin Lightning rig. Continued in next reply as I've reached the 5 pics maximum.

Default OK, I'll play part 2

For the evening out, suit and tie event, there's the Baby Cheif and a Berns Martin Lightning rig. Continued from previous reply as I had reached the 5 pics maximum.

After that is some other maker's sixshooter in 44 Special and a F A Meana holster.

And last is a USFA from Doug Turnbull in 44 WCF in the same Meana holster.

Default My rig

Here goes with my first pictures; I hope it works.

The rig was made for me by Dave Urlacher of Dickinson, ND. He is a master saddle maker and not too bad at holsters either. I have three holsters of the same pattern for 4, 5 and 6 inch guns. this is my working rig and is starting to get some scuff marks but that is what I bought it for.

Oh dear . I see now you said custom leather , not some old S&W hide , safariland for my Trooper . Can I at least ask you to consider My Milt Sparks for my Kimber semi custom since they made it to my order and I had to wait for it ? Darn Idaho people , you can't take us anywhere without us embarrassing everybody .

Not exactly an 1869 to 1961 rig.

Here's another custom Black Hills Leather rig. It's the "Tombstone" model that I had them do, for my 629 Classic 5".
Nice rig but, it's more of a "Sunday go to meetin'" rig.

And a H.H. Heiser for my M19-3 4".

And one of my favs, an Idaho Leather which I was hoping would fit a 6" Highway Patrolman, it didn't. But it fit a Ruger MKII perfectly.

I made this Hoppalong Cassidy rig for a friend in the 80's. Quite a chore, this one.

The thumb break is a Safariland for the Colt trooper . I had a thumb break for my mod 25 4" , but I can't remember if it was safariland or Bianchi . Letting that combo get away haunts me . 4" is my favorite big pistol length and thumb break maybe my favorite open carry type holster .. I like my mod 29 6 1/2 " in the pic for everything except sitting in the truck with it .

My first custom holster, the white stitching didn't look like I thought it would so it turned out to be a "prototype". The second one is brown with brown stitching, it looks much better. I've made a few others for family and friends and have one for my 2" Model 12 in the works...

Had this rig made up for the engraved Model 10.

Bought a holster and double magazine pouch to use on the same belt for my 1911s.

I've posted these many times, but for those that may have missed them,

Andrews Custom Leather, suede lined.

And I really like the holsters from Dave Newcomb. Great for informal shooting in the field, protects blued guns very well.

This one is for my #3 Russian. One day, when I have more money than I know what to do with, I'm gonna get the gun engraved to match it.

I liked the way he did the oak leaves and acorns so well, I had this next rig made for a pair of US Firearms. He did lighter colors on this one, and I think it looks even better.

My daughter's rig. Hair-on cowhide, with OM Blackhawk 357s.

Granddaughter's holster. Her mama seems to have some hippie blood, as the baby's middle name is Dragonfly. Red Dog Leather, 5 1/2" Single Six.

And another one by Big Ed. Definitely custom.

I always wanted a sawed off shot gun like "Johnny Yuma (was a rebel)", James Caan in "El Dorado", and like yours. How come that shotgun of yours ain't illegal?

Here is a custom, sorta, for my 1946 IJ that I made.

Also a holster for the 21-4 that's newer than this catagory
from SimplyRugged.

Black Sheep, that looks like it would fit a 629 classic 5 inch ( full underlug) just perfectly.

if you get the urge to make another, let me know your time and materials cost !

Default Just tooling around!

Over the years I've tooled and carved some too. It's a fun distraction from crafting concealment rigs everyday, but time consuming for me. I'm very slow compared with many much more talented craftsman. I'm sorta partial to the "mule foot" tool, as you can tell. This is an interesting thread, lots of eye candy!

Here's a Model 317 in a tooled Gaylord Super Sleuth

My personal tooled IWB for a custom Colt New Service .45

and of course a couple of cowboy rigs along the way for my Colt's, here's just a few of 'em.

Wyoming Sunrise (the tequila came later)

and a little fanciful example...(the tequila came before)

Most of my personal rigs I've made are for Colts. This is a favorite and looks good with my buddies engraved 44-40's in 'em.

Default Berns Martin Lightning Triple Draw!

Cowboy,
That is the nicest(only?) carved Berns Martin Lightning Triple Draw I have ever seen. Who did the carving on it? I bought mine, plain, in 1962, along with a Chief Special, $36 for holster, and $65 for the Chief. I wore it every day on my first and second tours in Vietnam as a first BUG to my Browning Hi-Power. (Second BUG, wrapped in a red bandana, within a baggie, was a Baby Browning.) The Lightning never failed me, although one time, while wearing it upside down on my belt, under my safari suit top, it did fall out onto the dance floor at the Air America Club. The Chief went scittering across the floor, and slide up under an occupied table. The guests schrank back, but Vietnamese band, playing "American Woman" never missed a beat.

QUOTE=KSCowboy;1081839]For the evening out, suit and tie event, there's the Baby Cheif and a Berns Martin Lightning rig. Continued from previous reply as I had reached the 5 pics maximum.

After that is some other maker's sixshooter in 44 Special and a F A Meana holster.

And last is a USFA from Doug Turnbull in 44 WCF in the same Meana holster.[/QUOTE]

I believe it to be factory original carving on this holster. My wife found this for $5 in a thrift shop several months ago. She called me and told me what it said on the back and I said "buy it!".

Look at this thread and compare the floral carving.

Model 29 .44 Mag. with vintage holsters,interesting Berns-Martin story
