18-4
I just picked up a 18-4 .22LR, looks like the larger .38 Combat Masterpiece. I had gone into the gunshop last week to order a M&P .22Mag and saw this one in the display case. I did a little research and called back and asked what they would take. They had it marked at 700 and I got it for 600. They were going to hold it until the other gun came in but I went ahead and picked it up this afternoon. I really did not examine it until today. It has a little blueing wear at the muzzle from holster wear and some very light freckling on the frame in a couple of spots. I got it home and took a new hi speed drill bit with some oil and used the shank end of the bit and buffed or rubbed the freckling until I could no longer feel it, then degreased everything and touched up blueing wear with some Brownells oxpho blue, not 100% perfect but you have to look hard to see it. I then took the side plate off and internals were totally dry so cleaned and lubed pivots and sliding surfaces as well as a touch of moly on the sear.
Tested the trigger and it lets off at about 2 3/4 lbs single action.

Cannot tell, there is some staining obscuring numbers.

I love my 18-4!
Is yours round butt or square? I would also be interested to know what grips yours comes with? Mine came with a round butt and PacMar grips. I like it but question it's originality?

It’s not easy to locate reasonably a priced M18… mostly because their owners hang on to them. Like someone else mentioned you started the new year off right.
I don’t often shoot paper for groups, but I’ve shot my best groups thus far with a mod 18 in double action. Go figure it’s a 22 and I was staging the DA pull but it’s better than I can do in single action for some reason.

I have an 18-4 SB. I don't think a RB version was ever offered by the factory.

Congrats !!! You will have a ball shooting that one. My 18-2 is my favorite rimfire to shoot by far.

This post would be much better with photos. Before and after would be the best. I've had my S&W model 18-3 for over a year ago. It was ANIB when I bought it. I've shot it quite a lot, but it still looks nice. With the right ammo, it shoots great.

It's actually the exact same size as a 38 Combat Masterpiece, just different sized chambers and bore. We do like pictures!!

It has Pachmayr rubber grips on it. I am pretty sure that it is a round butt. We will see.

Great price, based on your description.
A little oil with some bronze wool will do wonders on blued revolvers, without damaging the finish (more than it’s already been damaged.)
I have two Model 18s, they’re great.
