Model 27s' an informal pictorial essay. 11 pictures, not dialup friendly.
Hello fellow Smith and Wesson fanatics.
I traded for a 3 1/2 inch 27-2 nickel yesterday. I let go the 6" model 16-4 for it. N frames rule my world. I can't help myself. I love shooting 38 wadcutters through about any Smith , but the N-T 357 is particularly appealing to me ,I shoot all of them well.
Here they are ,as the collection stands today. Photographed out by the lake, on this balmy south Florida Sunday morning.
27-2 3.5" N164xxx 1973. Genuine "Fuzzy Farrant" grips.
Earlier 3.5"357 with 'speed hammer' shipped to Miami Fl. 1950.
5" 27-1 S221xxx
The 520 heard the commotion and insisted on being photographed as well. Thanks to Diamondback Dick for a beautiful revolver.
5" 27-2 S297xxx , wearing coke stocks. These feel fantastic on this particular configuration. Much more so than magnas or full size targets from the period.
4" blue 27-2 counterbored and pinned 1980. N832xxx
27-2 4" nickel counterbored ,not pinned N941xxx transition, 1982
Regards ,,Allen Frame

Nice guns Al but I really wish you would change backgrounds. Blue sky, palm trees, and a fishin hole is really getting annoying.

You take some really great pictures Allen, and of some really great guns too. You have an amazing array of S&W's.

Very nice 27's all! Al, I hear you gave up Rennaisance wax for Coppertone on your guns. Now I see why!

I'm glad you featured Diamond Dick's 520. I've been fascinated by them - the old ones, the fixed sight, six shot .357 - not the new one. I'm going to start a 520 thread and see if anyone will post more photos, give a little history, etc. Here's my M27-2, circa 1980. My photos suck, but I'm working on them.

Well ,Rob. I didn't know the short NT-357 was such a passion of yours.
Any you'd like to trade toward a FT357 ?
Nice bunch of revolvers!
Keep the faith , Allen Frame

Allen,
Unfortunately a few of those short barreled 357 Mags are gone. A few years back, after I found out that the pencil barreled Model 10's and Pre Model 10's could handle the +P cartridge, I traded them off to focus on the K frame 38 specials.
Only have a few left, they are keepers..... never know when I may need a heavy paper weight...
