I've really enjoyed the pictures on this thread. Question: what is the difference between a M34 and a M43? They look the same to me.

They look the same, yes.
One could almost think it was a typing-error by looking at them, but you would feel it when you pick them up!
The 43 is the lightweight version

I posted a couple of Prewar Kit Guns higher in this thread. Here are a couple of K-22s that live with me now, a First model from 1934 and an early production Third Model from 1947.





I also have a couple of other five-screw K-22s. Here's one from 1953 sporting left-hand Roper thumbrest target stocks.



I've got to believe there are more S&W .22s in my future, but I need to hold off on these for a while so I can touch up some other holes in my collection.

I have no idea when was mfg. Did not come from factory as is, but was refinished at the factory, with Red Post & WO Rear Sight Slide. Inv. #280523, date 11/01/1984, Finish was $70.00and the sights were Red Post $1.15 and Rear $7.75. I purchased the revolver used around same time period. It had Walnut Targets that I replaced with Rosewood. Is complete with all papers including invoice for Nickle Plateing & sights, Box And cleaning kit. It also has TH, & TT. Hope Info. Helps

Got a small collection started. Baught all in the same day. last month. 63 new in box papers tools, 51 4" box papers tools,K22 full size 5 screw used no wear just a ring on cyl. great shape. k22 4" in box (gold) tools papers 5 screw, m 40 cent. new in box but no tools. Little over $3,000 My plan is to decide what to keep and sale the others to offset the ones I keep. Group sale I had no other choice. Pics when I get time ( to show off).

A shooter grade ( at shooter grade price!) 2" 34 still eludes me, and right now my only smith 22 revolver is your standard plain Jane 1966 era 17(dash 2 or 3 I think). I prefer blued and hate the fact the 10 shot guns are not available blued(I did see one used at one time and kick myself for not buying it, only one I have ever seen) plus not much for the full
Lugged barrels either.

I was out dinging around in the garage and found 5 bricks of these, I totally forgot about (check out the sale price of these!):

Took these to the range today and put 100 rds Fed Automatch and 500rds Winchester M22 through them. Both shot great and the M22 was easier to eject from the K22 than anything I tried before. Everything ejects good from the 617.

I joined my local PD back in 1978 and we started revolver training with the S&W M18 in 22LR. Later, we were issued the S&W M15 in .38 Special. After I graduated, I bought this revolver to save on training ammo costs. That didn't work out too well as I soon discovered reloading for my .38 Special.





A couple of years later I tried to sell it. There were no takers. Lucky me, I still own it and don't ask.....it's NOT for sale.

My first K22 , a 1950 with Fitz grips. I was warned here that these things multiply. Recently acquired 1956 K22 with non relieved targets. Have yet to shoot the 56 but look forward to it.

I formerly had nine S&W .22 LR or .22 WMR revolvers, however I sold the too beautiful to shoot safe queens and kept my shooting stable.

My first S&W .22 a 617 no dash I purchased new near the beginning of production. Best shooting of any .22 revolver I've ever owned too.
