Default General question about Model 19's, and a specific SN Request

Hi all, I have a model 19-3, Nickel with a 4 inch barrel and a serial number of 4K40XXX. It has a target hammer and a target trigger.

Question, is it possible to pin down the year it was made? Also, were target hammers and triggers put on about half of these, or were they an extra cost option? Finally, if there is a target trigger, does it also mean that the guns with this option had trigger jobs? Thank you.

1973 seems a likely year of production. I don’t think a TT or TH meant anything beyond having those particular parts, but I’m often out in the weeds with some of the revolver stuff.

Good evening. My 19-3 with a 4K427*** serial was manufactured around 1973 as I recall. I don’t believe guns with a target trigger had any kind of trigger job at the factory. A Target trigger, target hammer, white outline rear sight, and red ramp front sight would have all the standard options. There would have been a slight upcharge for those. But certainly not unaffordable. Hope this helps. Others with more knowledge may appear shortly.

TT, TS, TH, just factory options for the Models 19 and 66, no extra attention to fitting or finishing, that was reserved for the Target Masterpiece revolvers.
