Very nice.

IMHO, the M13 outshines the much-vaunted M19 when put to the use for which they were designed.

Thanks all.

I don't mind. With taxes, it cost me $530 and change. Don't know if I paid too much or not. I just couldn't leave the shop with out it.

Nice purchase. One of the handiest revolvers around and very universal in its applications.

My wife's 13-1 with Ahrends maple grips:

A good M-13 costs more than a 19 in my area. It was a number of years before we found one we could afford - and that was after buying three Model 19s!

IMHO, $530 is a very good deal for your gun. Actually, I think you stole it! You have the original box, grips, the whole nine yards! I'm so jealous.

Great looking revolver. And that's a very fair price. Enjoy it!

Will never ever get rid of mine. Bought mine in 77'. Lot of bang for bucks back then.

These revolvers are what Smith and Wesson's reputation was built on, I think.

I purchased this 13-1 from a friend in the early 1970s for $150. It is my first S&W revolver.

Wow! That's a really clean example of a Model 13. Even though the 3-inch versions are very popular now, that 4-inch barrel looks pretty good from where I sit.

As an aside to anyone who knows ... did they often leave off the engineering change on the box label?

Thanks,

Jerry

A local dealer - my best S&W connection - told me TODAY he has a Model 13 in pawn, ready to be sold next week.

I can't wait - you can't have too many 13s.

Hello Jackie. I know what you mean. Not being able to walk away from a perfect Smith ,with box and all.
But , now you're screwed. Unless you just collect. Are you going to shoot it?
I have a 3" 13-2 that has been fired little if at all ,and I will
not shoot it.
It just sits in the safe and glares at me every time I pull it
out and fondle it.
These K-magnums just beg to be shot.
I also paid $500. for mine ,and don't regret it.

Good luck with yours.

Regards , Allen Frame

Allen,

Sorry, being late getting with you.

First, I want to say thanks for all the kind comments.

Second, you sure have a nice lookng 13 yourself.

I too will probably keep it mint in the box locked away in the vault. Darn it is too pretty to shoot. Besides, I have over fifty different handguns to choose from to shoot.

Jackie

Wow, that nickle 13 is spectacular! The the other 13s are great as well. I wish I had one. I really like fixed site K-frames. Alas, I only have two stainless steel versions; M64-2" (.38) and my go to the grave, M65-5, 3", which is my favorite.

If your referring to ky40601's, I BELIEVE it's blue based on its box label and the photo of it in the box.

Ky40601, please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thumbs up Congrats...

Very nice find...good luck with her !!

The second firearm I ever purchased was a nickel plated Model 13-3...3" bull barrel...bought to go with my first purchase, a Model 19 Combat Magnum 6" barrel ( tt ts rr wo ).

Paid $185 back in the late 70's.

Gotta love them K frames !!

Outstanding Model 13-1! Congratulations, that's a beautiful example!

Here are my two. A blued 13-1 and a nickel 13-2 photographed with a vintage Hoyt Idaho State Police front break holster.
