Default Quick 29-2 question

I recently got the shipping date of my dad's 29-2 to be sometime in 1982. My question is that the barrel is pinned which I thought made the gun a much earlier production. So am I assuming correctly that the gun was likely manufactured then sat in the factory for awhile before being sold and shipped? Also, is it correct for there to be no serial number on the cylinder? These questions may be obvious to some but I don't know much about 44's yet. Thanks, Daniel.

The model 29-2 was made from 1962 to 1982. Look on the butt of the gun for the serial number. You will more than likely have to take off the grips to see it. If you give us the serial number we can give you the date of manufacture. Don
