Does this count as a "Collection?"
From top to bottom
1963 17-2, 1972 15-3 and 2005 (I think)637-2. The 17 and 15 are "fun guns." I bought the the 637 for daily carry during the summer months. (Winter is my pre 80's series light weight Commander)
The little Swiss Army is Victorinox, the S&W scrimshaw is marked Smith and Wesson and has the Performance Center logo on the back of the blade. The rectangular pin is a 1993 Stocking Dealer pin, I don't know the year on the round pin but pbobably late 80's early 90's as are the Smith auto and revolver pins.

I know it is nowhere near what some on here have but at the least it's a pretty good start, especially for a Colt guy.

You may have to be like me for a little longer. When I look at some of the collections these folks post, I still classify myself as an accumulator, but I'm still havin' fun.

You have a very nice start and a versatile one too.. I would say you are on the verge of addiction.

Welcome to the club

Some of the collections such as "Doc44" and others can be staggering. Enjoy what you have and add to it when possible, it's not a competition. These forum members are good people with a world of knowledge always ready to help.

It's absolutely a collection! And a nice one too! Some of us have a few pieces, some a lot. But we all started out with that first one!

According to Merriam-Webster...

Main Entry: col·lec·tion
Pronunciation: \kə-ˈlek-shən\
Function: noun
Date: 14th century
1 : the act or process of collecting
2 a : something collected; especially : an accumulation of objects gathered for study, comparison, or exhibition or as a hobby b : group, aggregate c : a set of apparel designed for sale usually in a particular season

I'd sure say it was a collection, and a nice one!

Hi, my name is Joe and I'm an addict. You are most definitely on your way as a collector/accumulator with that nice group of Smiths. All my very best, Joe.

Nice guns ..... very nice indeed. I have to be the lone dissenting voice tho. What you have is not a collection. I do not have a collection either. I have convinced my wife that " Collections " are at least six guns and that 2 of them have to be the same gun. You have 3 and I have 4 .... and so you see that we are both free to add to our .. no thats not right. We are both free to buy more guns that simply suit us for one reason or another.
Happy future non collecting.

You have some very nice items. Collection is a subjective term that is over used. Having a 2 gun collection may satisfy some. Accumulating is what a few of us do. I started in March, 2010, with one 629, I wanted to accumulate a few S&W's to fill some gaps. No problem. I filled most needs with the following, 1 25-5, 1 27-3, 1 19-3, 1 K-22. Then something went terribly wrong, I have also added others, a K-22 5 screw, a 27-2 in 3.5" another 19-3 in 4". To me a collector is a highly organized person who develops a plan and sticks to it, for example all models with a -1 or -2, or one of each N Frame. I think I'm an unrepentant accumulator who's excelling in that addiction thing. I'm also that guy who had a Parker collection, I tracked down a 410 VHE, I drove all the way across MO in a severe ice/sleet storm to look at it. It was one of 2 a gentleman had, his son got the 20 guage and she got the 410. Her uncle had delivered it to her some years earlier after the funeral. She now needed money. She showed me a Stevens 410. I smiled and said I changed my mind I couldn't buy her dad's gun. Maybe she should just keep it. Old Unc had pulled a switcharoo on her. I'm sure Unc sold it and he too had passed, I drove home in the sleet, the only guy on the road. At that point in my life I think I was a collector.
