I don't think I've seen any Kurac's yet. Here's a 25-5 and a 4" 24-3 wearing Cocobola and Claro Walnut.

[QUOTE=Doc44;135516711]Model 629 engraved and inlaid with gold by S&W's Master Engraver, Wayne D'Angelo, in 2001. The revolver is fitted with stocks by Nill and they are made of Amboyna Burl. The 629 shipped from the factory with the same type of stocks, but made of figured walnut. I ordered these from Nill and it took about six months to get them.
Bill
Smooth stocks made of Goncalo alves on a 44 Magnum with a factory 5-inch barrel and Class A-engraving that was shipped in September 1957.
I challenge anyone who doesn't believe a S&W, or any gun for that matter, isn't a work of art, take a look at these two! The only word that comes to mind is stunning! And then, beautiful! Thanks for sharing Bill!

For some reason, I just looked through this thread. I'm sure glad I did! Y'all have some absolutely beautiful pieces, both guns and stocks! And the photography is outstanding! Can you imagine a coffee table book of forum members collections? Even those who might not have a "quantity" collection, you sure do have quality ones! Excuse me while I get a tissue and bib.

Jim, did you buy those inlaid stocks separate, or did you get the whole package? I really love the craftsmanship and the smooth look of them! Beautiful!

Thanks but the credit for this one goes to fellow forum member whitecoyote who recently sold it to me. It's a nice little J-frame in pretty good shape. The original checked magnas are currently being restored by DWFAN.

Here are a couple.
Here they are on a couple of 27-2s. The long barrel came with the ones it is wearing, and the 4-inch is wearing a set that originally came on a 58. The 58 has been subsequently shorn with an appropriate set of modified magnas only a couple of thousand numbers off.
Hey, how did this get on here! Kinda one of my grail guns, a Colt New Frontier. the blue on this thing is like glass, gorgeous.

This is a set of Goncalo Alves K frame combat grips I forget I had. I discovered them in an old S&W box. Just found another set of K frame round butt combat grips. It's good to rummage thru old boxes you've forgot about, you never know what you'll find.

I actually prefer smooth grips. When I was going through the safe I was surprised how many of my grips are checkered. I though I had more smooth. Anywho, here are some of my smiths with smooth grips: 686-5pp with miculek rb grips, 66-1 with miculek sb grips, 940 with eagles(dont remember), and a pre-10 with the cheap cdnn herrets)

Some non smith's I have outfitted with smooth wood:

This 27-2 was the first handgun I ever purchased. It was new in March, 1975. It is a 1974 model and originally shipped with service Magnas, which I still have. I added these smooth stocks later that year, because I just liked the look of them and I had $9.95 money burning a hole in my pocket.
