Show Off Your Smooth Grips!!
I thought I would start a thread where people could show off their smooth/uncheckered wood grips mounted on S&W Revolvers. It seems the majority of grips are checkered and I happen to prefer the look and feel of the smooth finish. So here are my smoothies on my 28-2, both hailing from 1977.

Model 629 engraved and inlaid with gold by S&W's Master Engraver, Wayne D'Angelo, in 2001. The revolver is fitted with stocks by Nill and they are made of Amboyna Burl. The 629 shipped from the factory with the same type of stocks, but made of figured walnut. I ordered these from Nill and it took about six months to get them.
Bill
Smooth stocks made of Goncalo alves on a 44 Magnum with a factory 5-inch barrel and Class A-engraving that was shipped in September 1957.

I challenge anyone who doesn't believe a S&W, or any gun for that matter, isn't a work of art, take a look at these two! The only word that comes to mind is stunning! And then, beautiful! Thanks for sharing Bill!

Here are just some of the smooth grips I have gotten over the last 30+ years at various gun shows, and gun shops. All I have to do now is find guns for them.

I know this thread is for smooth wood grips, but there are a few nice pictures of non checkered composite or pearl grips. So I thought I would post a pic of my M36-0 with Collins Craft Black Corian grips and Tyler T.

My Model 29 with S&W Rosewood Smooth Grips, Excellent Condition.
Same grips on a different gun, look much better on the Nickel 29 than the blue 28.

66 , Pre 24, 25-2s
66-Polished TH, smoothed and polished TT, RR,WO, well matched GA grips with silver inlays by Don Brown of Yakima. I bought it new, and it will be one of the last to go. A tack driver to boot. I have packed it a lot over the years.
Pre 24-Bright blue TH, TT, factory original non-relieved Rosewood grips. One of my favorites.
25-2s-Consecutive pair with extensive work by T. Freyburger, Elephant Ivory grips. Two more members of the favorites group.

Jim, did you buy those inlaid stocks separate, or did you get the whole package? I really love the craftsmanship and the smooth look of them! Beautiful!
