Default Please help, When was my Model 36 Born??

Hi there, I just purchased a Model 36 the other day and it is in about 98 % condition with the original box, and all the paperwork inside. I have the S&W Standard Catalog but it is vague as to when my gun was built. Here is the serial # 608XXX. My guess is somewhere between 1966 and 1968 but does anyone know for sure???

Also another question about this gun, It is the Blued version and all the markings on it are embossed in Gold and looks like the factory did it, but I have not scene another with gold markings, just the regular style, anyone know about this too???

I know there are some real experts on here, so thanks ahead of time for your knowledge.

Your guestimate is about right, but to get any closer you would have to have a factory letter. The "book" is kinda vague in that time frame.
The gold lettering is aftermarket, it was quite popular back then. Fingernail polish remover aka acetone and a toothbrush will take it off, be careful around the grips though.
