Stumbled on to 14-1 as new in box
This makes two new (to me) older Smiths in a month. The first was a NIB 36 from approximately 67 and now I found a 14-1 from approximately the same year. I gave $500 for it and can see no indiactions that it had ever been shot (that changed over the weekend). The box is perfect with matching numbers, protective paper and warranty card. No tools or instruction paper. Was the price fair?
I'm a bullseye shooter and for the price I thought I'd try my hand with a revolver. It may take me the rest of my shooting life to figure out timed and rapid fire....

That is a pretty good price, the -1 is a scarce variation (only made for about 2 years, 1959-'61).

The 14-2 is one fine revolver and you did very well. The earlier ones came with diamond grips and the later without. Pics!!

Welcome to the forum
K38's are great guns. I have had several and have yet to find one that didn't shoot great.

That 14 looks beautiful! However, I don't think the grips are correct. Your gun has the optional oversize target hammer and trigger. It should also have target stocks. Collectors often refer to this optional package as the "3T's" (target hammer, trigger, stocks). Check your box end label to see if it says "T" for stocks. Also, the grips shown do not have a diamond in the center, which would have been used in the 14-2's run.

Gorgeous gun. I think it was a fair price, and I would surely have spent the money for it. Check the grips to see if they are numbered to the gun.

Ditto on the grips. They are PC's and probably wouldn't be on a K-38. They are nice, though, and the gun is fantastic. I would be very happy.

The grips have been replaced with a set from a 14-3. Much better!
