"Rescued" 13-2
Saw what l thought was a beat-up model 10 in a local shop. Asked to look at it anyway and noticed it was both pinned AND recessed--a model 13-2. Had rust spots across the top of the barrel (but the rust looked light/powdery like it might clean up okay); the right grip was broken and half missing; a few good-sized gashes on the metal (one on the right side of barrel close to the frame, the other--about same size as the first--on the front of the yolk); nickel generally dull, dry and dirty. But the price was $315 so I bought it. Cleaned away the rust spots with a bronze brush and oil; replaced the grips with Eagle grips I had on hand; carefully filed and stoned down the sharp burrs on the gashes; polished the nickel with Flitz and then Renaissance wax. Came across a used Alessi IWB holster, lefty like me, that I added. Had a gunsmith look over (because of that gash on the yoke) and he said was excellent mechanically. Shoots great and am really happy with it! Only issue is the checkering on the Eagle grips is a bit harsh with 357s. I don't plan to shoot a ton of 357s through it, but I might replace the grips with magnas and a Tyer T grip.
