Default Happy 49th BD Nickel Jet

Happy Birthday in a few days to K446353 which is a factory original nickel Model 53 shipped to H.H. Harris on 10/27/1961. This is a rare variation of the Jet as it is the only one discovered so far, nickel Jet with all others having been returned to the factory for the nickel refinish work. Maybe someone will discover the second one in the same shipment some day.
Chuck

That is a score! a huge score! I had a friend that worked at Harris back in the day. It was an institution in Chicago and they always had smart special order variations, 5 inch barrels, nickle finishes, target stocks, target hammers, patridge sights, lots of little things like that.

They knew guns and catered to thoes that did.

Chuck, great looking Jet! Seems that Herb liked nickel rimfires with fancy smooth grips. Here is a factory nickel 48 that shipped the same year to Harris.

Chuck,
That is truly a very nice, very rare 53. The optional cylinder really completes the package.

John, nice 48. The stocks on your's really make the nickel stand out. Looks like Herbie Harris liked the smooth stocks as well.

I bought this Model 53-2 from a Smith & Wesson employee years ago. He had it tapped for a scope, gold bead front sight and Birdseye Maple stocks. Believe it or not, I actually carried it on duty for a while. I had a Sam Brown outfit with two different holsters, an N frame and a K frame. Both for 8 3/8" barrels.

There are no refinsh stamps on it. This is how it came from the factory, so is this one also an original nickel finish?

Nice! Just picked up a 53 recently myself. Not in the condition yours is in though. I think you have one of the rarest out there since it is in nickel and you have the 22LR cylinder. Nice score!
