Trade Mod 17 for 625 .45 who pays who
I find myself in the position of being cash poor but overstocked on Model 17's and K22s. I have 4 6 inch barreled K22s, and even for me that is a bit much. I'm looking to drop one 17-4 or 17-2. I have a Model one OD, + a K22 Masterpiece. I don't need two 17's
I was looking to get a 1950 or 25, or any other revolver that fires moon clipped .45 APC.... just because I like it. Maybe even a 625.
My question is, in this market which is worth more, in equal finish and mechanical condition? Lately 22s have been a hot item. Could I expect an even swap?
How much should I expect to pay above the cost of the Mod 17-4 P&R in order to get a decent .45 revolver?
Thanks for any ideas and direction.

Not enough information talking about generic guns because each will have a plus or minus - not to mention dealing with a dealer or individual. Having said that, expect to put out about $200 for a 17 trade on a model 25 or 625.

I bought a NIB (display box) 25-2 a couple weeks ago. I think I gave 800 for it. I have a 1917 Colt and like the .45 acp in a revolver.
It's no longer unfired! I like it, maybe a little big for my hand but overall I like it. The moon clips are a PITA. I don't have any problem shooting it without the clips.
Now I want to buy a K-22 or 2 or 3....
All the different models and variations can leave me somewhat confused?
I need to study up on the K-22's.......
Any advice where to start?

In a face to face private deal I would expect and even up trade. The 22 caliber revolvers are in very high demand right now because they are so cheap to shoot and perfect for training.
Trade it in at a dealer and the most you can expect is about 60% of the retail price. Assuming a retail value of 700 bucks, that means the dealer will offer 420 tops. About the only exception would be if you have a dealer that you've worked with for years who has a customer who has offered a premium for a good clean model 17. In that case he may offer near full value because he knows he can turn it quickly and feels that building "good will" is an important aspect of his business.

I believe it will depend on condition. A mint 17-4 would be worth upwards of $600 - $700. A mint 25 would go around $800. If the 17 was mint and the 25 was 95% it might be even up. There could be 100 different scenario's, depending on condition of each one.
