Was bored and looking through some old threads - Wow there are some beauties in this thread. Updating and throwing it to the top with this 4-screw pre-29.
Would love to see a few more of your mirrored blue guns...

OMG! The guns/photos in this thread are exotic. The adult magazine of gun photos. Great pieces of american craftsmanship. All of you should be very proud.

I have read about the newer S&W revolvers not having
the same class blued finish as the pre-war and directly post -war guns. I have seen lots of them that don't.
But every once in a while I see one like this 25-5 which shipped in May, 1980. I don't recall too many that, side-by-side, would put this finish to shame.

I am terrible at photography but, here are a couple:
Model 27-2 circa 1976
And a gratuitous picture of my prettiest "blue" gun! A 1965 Python snubbie! It now has the proper stocks.

mirror blue
Came across this thread and could not resist adding to it. This is a 1973, 58 I acquired last year. the blue job is what attracted me to it. one of the better bluing jobs I have seen on a 58.

19-4
27-2
While the anodized frame on this 42 isn't mirror like, the cylinder, crane & barrel are.

Clark's did their Meltdown package in 1998, Dietrich Gunsmithy refinished it a couple of years ago. Dietrich's is responsible for the polish and bluing, as well as the barrel crown and checkering.

Great thread resurrection! I missed it the first time around.
I've got a few nice ones from the 60's, but this 17-3 from 1969 is probably the best
This July 1966 27-2 is kind of nice too

Man there are some FINE firearms and great photos in this thread!!
Submitted for your viewing- K-22 Model 17-3
Model 25-2 45ACP
Five inch pencil barrel model 10-5 mismarked 10-6. This gun has the best blue of any 1970's S&W I've ever seen!
My often posted 520
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...utdr-lsjpg.jpg
Model 19-3 six inch with 3 T's
And finally M586-4, they were having a really good day in the polishing department when this gun came along. Best finish of any 1980 or newer S&W I've seen.

Here's a few of mine.
They're not refinished, but pretty mirror like.
My Dan Wesson 15-2 and my .22/.32 Target.
The .22 has some wear on the barrel, but the frame is nice.
You can also check out these youtube videos of the two guns for a "real life" look at the finishes.

I've figured out why the 3.5" N frames look so good.
They look like a 2.5" 19, scaled up.

I know it's not a Smith but US Firearms produced some of the nicest finished guns out there. Too bad they're not still making them.

Since I am picking just one, here is my best. A 5 inch 29-1 that is as nice a finish as I've ever seen on a S&W and I've seen a bunch.
