I just bought a 66-3 3" excel. cond. for $500 and am very happy and I think I got a smokin deal.. Don't know anything about the F comp though but I am pretty sure its a good thing

it comes from the performance center, its pretty nice and like everyone else i'm a sucker for 3 in. revolvers

mtime7,that was a good deal,i bought a 66-2 w/ 3 in. barrel for 350 awhile back,he did'nt know what he was selling and i did'nt know what i was buying, found out later it was rare and worth alittle more, sometimes ya get lucky

Jump on it!!!! That F comp is a pretty rare and highly desirable snub and a joy to shoot. The gents who bought there 3" 66's at them fantastic prices were very fortunate. A 66-2 will bring 700.00 and up in todays market.

Lots of folks don't like ported revolvers but I love em. They do keep muzzle rise down with magnums, allowing for faster follow up shots. I'll say it again. Any magnum is going to flash like heck at night. The ports make zero difference as an unported revolver will flash just as bad. The muzzle just won't climb as high during recoil and the front end gets dirtier. Well worth the extra couple minutes of cleaning.

Double hearing protection is mandatory. I wear double protection everytime I shoot a handgun or any other centerfire anymore. From shooting, flying in helicopters and riding Harleys I'm pretty deaf. A good thing at times when I'm in trouble with the wife:)!

If you don't buy please PM me and tell the gent I will buy it for 800.00 and the MO will be there overnight. I'm very serious!

Here's my 170010 Carry Comp 3" to provide more temptation:

I paid $664.66 in 1997 slightly used, no box! Mine is #088. I think they were made in 1986. That just may be the most I ever spent for a handgun includeing new colt single actions! Had to have it. I think they were suppose to 300 made for lew horton. Besides ported, mine has trilijon night sights etc. Right after I bought mine I seen another at a neighboring gunshop. The grips on that one had a ivory diamound inset. As you can see mine has wood grips like the other and neither had the uncle mike goodyears that was on the paper that came with it. Exspendsive, but get it if you can afford it! If yours has the trilijon sights as mine, they probley need redoing. Mine does.

Mine is number 0040. I bought it new October, 1995.

The F Comp was made in several batches between 1993 to 2003. The add shown says there were to be 300 made, but I believe that was just 300 for the initial order for Lew Horton, and others followed. My notes from when I bought mine said that there were 600 made.

A smokin little pistol. In my opinion anything under a grand for one of the original 66-3s in excellent condition is good.

I got lucky. Never expected to see one much less afford one.

Here it is ,wearing eagle sambar stags found at the same show for $100.

The unusual feature of this particular 66-3 is the rear sight is the
newer version with the rounded front edge, and subsequently the
top strap is drilled and tapped for a scope mount.
This feature did not show up until the 66-4 engineering change in
normal production.
That kind of makes it special in my opinion.
