Default Combat Magnums

I think the original Combat Magnum and following early model 19's are some of the neatest S&W's made. It is hard to find a minty older gun as these were tools and not art work back in the day. I just picked up this 19-2 from 1966 and it is a beaut.

When I was a teen-ager, I saw a copy of "Guns and Ammo" magazine on a drug store rack. Probably the first copy I ever saw. On the cover was a picture of a "SMITH & WESSON MODEL 19 COMBAT MAGNUM". I thought to myself, "Man that is what a handgun is supposed to look like."

I still do. (19-4)

My first handgun was a Model 19. I foolishly traded it off thinking, "I'll get another one, one of these days." It took a while, but I did.

Sold a 4 screw M-19 twenty years back...but DID keep the knockout diamond targets it had originally worn. STILL a stupid move.

Nice gun and like the photography with the old boxes of period ammo too.

I just found a 19 no dash (1960 dob) with incorrect combat grips (non diamonds) but does have the box.
Seller wants $580, Its about 95% with some scratches and spots.
Overall very nice and I am tempted as my oldest CM right now
is a 19-3 from 1972...May pass.

Tools yes!!! Truth be told, one of the nicest tools I own. Bar-none one of the finest triggers I have ever had the pleasure of squeezing. Pictured here is my 19-4. Traded a Glock 21 for it.

Engine49guy,

I think about such things this way.

Where today can I buy a NIB .357 that is of as good quality as a M19-0 for $580.00 as you describe?

Plus, I'd think that price is not too high anyhow, especially for a M19-0.

papalondog,

That is indeed beautiful, as are the others.

Some good looking 19s in here, a lot more pretty than mine. I have two 19-3s that are retired LE guns, lot of finish wear but fine mechanically. They were my image of the perfect revolver growing up too. Greatly practical and usable guns, just love them and so do my teens. Best possible starter revolver.

Had this nice Nickel 19 (I think - 4) for awhile.

And this nice 19 (can't recall the dash) that someone refinished in electroless nickel. It too is now gone.

Yes, the Model 19 is a great gun and I wish I'd never sold mine. Maybe someday I'll be able to buy another. Until then I will have to make do with my Model 15...which I prefer.
