Price check, 29-2 Nickle 6in.
I just spied a 29-2 Nickle 6in barrel in pristein condition at a LGS. He just got it in and hasn't price it yet. No box or papers but the gun it self is perfect with beautiful almost blonde target stocks. P&R of course.
What's it worth?

I'd say that with current prices coming down a bit, about $600- $750 depending on the area of the country you live in.
I know of several just like it that have sold for under $650 lately.

Not sure about nickle, haven't seen any for sale, but I bought a blued one in 95% blue and goodyears, a month ago for $475. I would think anywhere in the $600 range would be good

8 and 3/8 inch bbl, nickeled
How about an 8 and 3/8 inch nickeled version? Current prices?
One owner, purchased in 1978. About 200 rounds fired. Been safe queen for many years now...I'm the original owner.
Original cardboard outer sleeve. In wood presentation box with all original accessories, rust prevention paper, and all factory provided paperwork.
Excellent condition.
Extra grips. Pacmayer and Heriett Shooting Star
Photos to interested buyers.

Wow. Sounds exactly like mine, including nickel and with presentation case.
I bought it new around the same time as you, and only shot it enough to sight it in and subsequently take out 3 of a 5 ram rack, and then 5 of 5 of the next ram rack.
And that was totally box stock with factory sights.
It's been a safe queen ever since and has had only about 200 rounds through it like yours.

If you were to sell your gun, what would you ask for it?

Around here a -2 nickel 44 in the condition you describe would go for between 850-1000. Longer barrel about the same maybe a little less. Seems prices get higher the closer to the left coast you get.

Price check, 29-2 Nickle 6in.
I have a 29-2 in nickel and I think with all the accouterments you would be closer to 1000. I wouldn't let mine go for less. Prices are only going to rise as you can see from this thread, prices from 5 years ago have doubled if not near tripled. I am in Texas if that helps with geographic trends. If you find one buy it. I am looking at a 629-1 and they are firm at 900 if that helps for comparison

I see these sell for around 1000. If put on a auction sight maybe closer to 1200.00.

It's been five years since the OP so I'm with yfdcap, $1000 to $1200 is likely to be what I'd see on such a gun today.

Yep. Out here in kali, that gun would easily get $1200 or more.

Just bought a made in 1979 29-2 6" Nickel seems to be unfired with No papers or box for $1,000. Taking into consideration that it originally sold for approx. $349 back in 1979 and a New Classic Model 29-10 is approx. $900 made today. I will take the made in 1979 any day of the week as compared to new for the same price.

I recently looked at this post and noticed several more entries since posted. I was not in any need to sell that gun and was just interested in the current value. My thanks for the input by all of you who gave updated information based on your personal experiences.
It is now FEB 2020 and I still have that gun and it is still sitting in a safe unused. If I were to sell it, what should be a reasonable price now?
For frame of reference, I recently purchased a like new 6 ½" bbl Mod 25-2 in 45 ACP for $900.

FYI...I picked up a nice Model 29-2 6" nickel last year at a lgs, $900. No box or tools, but really nice target stocks. They're now selling for $1100 and up around here.

To me any pristine S&W N Frame in nickel finish 6”/6 1/2” pre mim/loc I’d say easy $1,200 maybe more.
I picked up a nib still unfired, used but returned for pawn m29-19 / 6.5” barrel in blue in excellent ++ condition for $699. I didn’t want blue but the cost caught my eye.
I seen the gfs online near $1,700+ for n frames. I wonder why where not seeing the prices much higher today.?
My online guy listed s&w m28/6”/ blue for $695 in excellent condition and two m27-2’s one blue, one nickel 6” for $795. Here I never see used s&w n frames for sale. What do you do pass or buy? My LGS had every nib s&w n frame on clearance for $699. Brand new.
Fact, it’s a matter of price, how bad you want it,
I been a ruger guy for decades but my first n frame convinced me I was missing out.
Did let the guys with lesser prices fool us there all over the place price wise. Like my 73 k10 Chevy 4x4 was $3605.00 can I get deal today on a new one? What’s that $50k?
