Default New to me Model 10

Here's a new to me 1977 Smith and Wesson Model 10-6 .38 Spl. - 4" heavy barrel with box, accessories and paperwork that I just picked up. It was a little rough when I got it but it cleaned up well.

Have fun and be safe.

Congrats on your model 10 and great pictures. I believe everyone should have a least one model 10 in their collection. I have two.
Thanks for sharing,
Howard

say that's a nice gun! I can almost feel the hammer cocking with the gun in my hand. The weight of that bull barrel providing a good balance.
I bought my dad a M-10-5 with a light barrel a few years ago in the exact same box with the exact same paperwork and schematics. The schematics included the bull and light barrel. Dad always wanted "a .38 Special" the "policeman's revolver" which he indentified growing up as a boy was actually the Smith & Wesson model 10 M&P in police holsters in Jackson, MS and in tv and movies he saw as a kid

"Rough" is my 10-6 HB; LOTS of blue wear but it sure has a smooth DA...with any care at all they will still be good shooters 100 years from now.

Thanks guys. It's not perfect but it has some honest wear that gives it great character. This one begged out to me to be saved. Tax and instant check and everything out the door was $291 and change...have a little more in it for the box and accessories (didn't come with it). I have boxes and original accessories / paperwork for ALL of my S&W's and Colts.

The 4" bull barrel is so well balanced. I may carry this one a bit as I like the feel.

Have fun and be safe.

Very nice revolver and a nice complete package.

An amazingly adaptable handgun and highly effective, a Model 10 has everything you need and nothing you don't need. I never set out to love my Model 10-6 but, despite having a number of handguns that are supposedly better and more up-to-date, it is the "go to" handgun around here.

I own a lot of guns, but my bedside holster gun is an old Model 10 heavy barrel, round butt with Hogue Bantam grips on it. I keep it loaded with standard pressure Nyclads. At 3am when I first am awakened out of a sound sleep by a bump in the night I don't need to be trying to remember how a Glock works or dealing with the muzzle blast and recoil of a magnum. The Model 10 is a classic and for good reason.

I have four and want some more, a 6 inch and a 2 inch, in that order. Of course, a 3 inch would be nice, too.
You have a nice looking gun.

In the era of plastic poly-poppers with 17 round mags, the Model 10 is still a capable weapon. There's a lot to be said for a gun that points like it's part of your hand, is safe and "at rest" until you pull the trigger, and will give you "6 for sure" instead of "hoping for 17 without a jam, stovepipe, nosediving hollowpoint........"

I own a few bottom feeders with seemingly endless magazines but I usually carry a M10 or 64 4", because I know I am good with it and it will go bang 6 times on demand. If the first 6 don't get 'em, the 12 more I have in my pocket sure will

One of my favorites is my East Cleveland PD marked 5" M10, I hear this was a VERY tough town back in the 60's-70's when my gun was "on duty" there.......and this 10 was good enough back then, probably in a city that was closer to being a demilitarized zone.......
