Help with Model 36 history
Here is my model 36 in 38 special. Manufacturer date is 1978 per S&W call. Can anyone confirm scrolling is original for this never fired recolver? Serial number is J652xxx. Any and all information will be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. Very nice! Another Forum member will probably recognize the engraving style, and perhaps even know the engraver by his/her work. If not, you can request a factory historical letter to see if it is original:

Now that's a S&W logo right there! Nice engraving no matter who did the work.
Is this a recent item or do you have any history? If new, had did it end up in your hands?

Old friend was moving and didn't want to go through the riggers of a new state and their gun laws. It sat in a case unfired for 30 years he said - S&W verified manufacture as 1978. He also thought the gun was a commerative model but didn't remember much more.
