I bought this gun about a week ago on an impulse. I know its a S+W model 36 I think its a NYPD edition. I am curious what the logo is on the grip and what year it is.

Welcome to the Forum, you will find lots of good information here.
The rubber stocks on the gun have a Pachmayr logo, one of many makers of aftermarket parts. If you can post the letter/numbers off the bottom of the grip frame (leave off the last few digits if you prefer, like J 123xxx) someone can tell you when it was shipped, and possibly if it has an NYPD connection.
