Mike, just this chopped up 28-2. It's been Allenized.

It's beside me now as a house gun with its Lasergrips on it.

Allen, I understand those Tru-Fits aren't any fun to shoot with but they sure make that thing look mean. Nice gun. What's the felt behind the trigger for?

The felt pad was a trigger stop experiment.
It kept the back of the trigger from biting the pad of my trigger finger.

That looks like a good working gun. The felt pad was a good idea.

Have you thought about using the sights like they put on the Night Guards?

Close up they work good.

I don't have one of the Austin Behlert conversions but I do have one of his special replacement rear (adjustable) sights for K-frames. I believe they were designed and sold about 25 or so years ago as early efforts were being made to build dedicated PPC guns, but the one time I got to talk with him, I didn't think to get any more information about the sight as he was busy unveiling his Model 41 S&W conversion from .22 LR to .32 wadcutter. Unfortunately, I never got one of those, either!

Here is mine a 25-2. There is something about holding one of these giant snubbies that's hard to describe. If someone was pointing one at you, well looking at that big hole in the end of the barrel would be VERY scary.

The list of modifications is very long indeed. The link to the photo album has all the details.

The short form: A 1917 with a sleeved Model 28 Barrel, Round butted, ball detents, shortened cylinder, bobbed hammer, engraving and grips by Jeff Flannery.

Default 25-5

Ok, just completed a FTF for 25-5 today. Not sure if Jovino, Behlert or who, but don't really care as it is a high qaulity conversion. These grips were not included. Here are pics....

My 1980-made 25-2 was chopped back in the '80s by a long-deceased Savannah gunsmith.

Incredibly slick action, 3 1/4" barrel, smoothed and radically narrowed trigger . . . and a pleasure to shoot and hit with. The balance is incredible too!!!

Grips by the forum's Patrick Grashorn (aka The Executioner) of Grashorn Gunworks in Greeley, CO.

gonna
try this here .. we'll see.. If this worked this is my model 28. It fits the description of Jovinos' work .. but I haven't sent for the letter yet.
My first purchase .. and still my favorite ... and yes I do carry it.

There are some great pictures in this thread. Here's a couple quick shots of my 25-2. It's one of my favorites. I sure would love to add a 25-5 to the collection though, or maybe one of those 28's.

Default Nothing Radical but man does it ever shoot

I had Austin Behlert build this 657-3 for me in the late 80s. He cut the barrel back to 4", rounded and polished the trigger and did an action job. I got it when I was routinely carrying and competing with N frame 41 Mags. The care he took to make this gun look factory is pretty impressive. Austin even made sure the serrations on the rib matched the serrations on the sight base and blended the seam between the two so the join is almost invisible. I've shot the gun so much that I had S&W Performance Center reface the cylinder and turn back the barrel one turn to reset the B/C gap.

Default BEHLERT Model 58 Snubby

This is a really nice one in 41 mag, a 58 no dash, there is a ball bearing detent in the crane for lockup and there is a set screw making contact with the strain screw so it does not loosen. And the action is suburb. This is a serious fightin handgun!!!!

Below you can see it marked Behlert-he did not alway mark his work

Beautiful guns guys, I've been looking in to getting such a gun fot a hunting backup in areas with bears or mountain lions. I'd even consider those Jovino made Astra Terminators though I'm embarassed to admit that!

Not a Jovino or Behlert, but I had to take a quick shot of my 657 no dash to compare with the one Behlert did for cprher. I'd have to agree with you that he took great care to make your gun look like a factory 4". Mine is a factory 4" that the previous owner had set up to compete with. He only used it a couple times before he decided to go back to his 625, and then put it up for sale. I almost thought I was looking at a picture of mine when I first saw your post. Course, my photography skills are not as good as yours.

Love that 58 by the way.
