Model 57 blue ship box

Picked up a 57 no dash 8 3.8 blued with everything but the presentation box.Was in a royal blue cardboard box(no S&W markings) that was told they shipped in,does anyone know if thiat is valid or not?

Depending on the year shipped, a blue cardboard box would've been what the revolver was contained in from the factory.
These show up from time to time on the internet (GB & Ebay) and are not as expensive as labeled boxes seem to be.

I have been led to believe, and I will now lead you to believe, that S&W shipped guns in these boxes for models that were supplied in wooden presentation cases. If I saw a Model 57 in one of these boxes, I would want to know where the original wooden presentation box was.

Also heard the S&W used them to return guns to owners when factory repairs were made.

Thanks for the information and picture,the blue box showed is exactly what it looks like.I did inquire about the presentation box,a case of the husband passing away and it couldn't be found. Gun was stored in the blue one,never fired with barely a turn line.Does anyone have ideas where I might aquire a correct presentation box?

we have members here that refurbish and sell the presentation cases...i sold several a few months back

Guns shipped with presentation cases in the 1970s were shipped as pictured above. I have heard the reason the pistol was shipped in the blue box was to protect the interior of the presentation case. If the pistol was shipped in the wood case, the interior might get damaged if the pistol was bounced around in shipping.
