5-inch 29-2 with "Personalized" KB Stocks
This 29-2 was shipped to H. H. Harris in Chicago on March 7, 1963. It has Kearsarge "Doc44"" stocks on it by Keith Brown. I thought I would put these great stocks made of exhibition grade walnut on one of my favorite 44s.

Beautiful stocks, Doc. I love the grain in the wood. If that one ever comes up missing, we will know who it belongs to

Oh man!
I can't say it enough times- I love 5" N frames, especially these old original .44's. Someday..........
The stocks are a really neat addition to a beautiful gun. Any back story on how those KB's with your name on them came about?

Absolutely stunning ! Funny how some of us get "visually conditioned" to certain things proportionally. I never paid much attention to the 6" tubes on the 44's until I obtained a 6&1/2" and now the 6" tube doesn't look "right" to me.
The 5" guns have always looked so well proportioned to my eye . . . to bad I've never been able to snag one.

I said it before: The 5" barrel looks great and it's too bad S&W didn't offer it as a standard item.

This is what I love about this forum, hop in and you will be amazed each day.
Behold the beauty of this humble tool!
How can this be at once an elaborate work of art in Doc44's hand and yet (other than the exquisite grips) could have easily by twist of fate been long ago scratched and dinged with countless adventures of a trusty friend, or sat silently by on a nightstand awaiting a call to duty.

WOW, the 29 with Keith's grips are a match made in heaven. The personalization that he did makes them even more special.

I don't think my friends at work really understand me. I try to talk about things like P&R 29-2's and the like, but they mostly just give me a polite, blank stare. 
Somehow I think you and I could chat for hours! LOL

That is too cool for school. Closest I'll ever come is probably my lowly 5" 27-2. Seems like S&W missed a great bet by not making more 5" guns in other configurations and models. Ah, well, that just makes them the more desirable, right?
