I have a chance to get a 3" model 13-2. Blue is pretty good, a little loss below the thumb piece,backstrap. One other question, I know the FBI carried these, what holster would they have used, Thanks

your not real clear on condition but in a range of $350 to $550 depending on condition

In this neck of the woods, a fairly used model 13 3" goes easily over 400, depending on condition closer to 500.

Most 13-2 3 in. were P&R and command a premium. There were some that was mfgd. late in 1981 or early1982 that was transitional.
That said, I would expect to pay $50 to $100 more for a 13-2 P&R over the price of a later dash number, JMHO.

Sorry, forgot to say that it is P&R. Like I said,there are some spots, (wear) under the thumb piece and backstrap. But since I want this for a carry gun it's a moot point.I just really,well ok, really, really like 3"S&W's. I have a 3" model 36 flatlatch and a 3" model 940. 3" revolvers Rock!!

BTW, I am planning to trade a Glock model 35 o.d. tht is just setting in the safe. I really love it but never shoot it.

Most people here would trade a Glock for a 3" M13-2 any day of the week.

You're shy a few manners.

I bought a 13-2 4 inch for $475. People want a 3 inch more than a 4 inch. So I would buy the revolver if it is priced in the $400 range.

My 13-3 is in excellent condition, came with the original box and tools. I paid $475.

Where can this 3" M-13 be found and I will volunteer to go check it for you, and report back what I paid for it!!

As you describe with no box and original grips: $400-425 or so would be the fair street price. Less than $400 would start to qualify as a good deal while $475 and up start to seem a little steep.
If it were an in-box example, P&R, with all the papers and goodies it would sell easily for $550 and up. More if it were nickle and much more if it lettered to the FBI.
I do not know about FBI holsters but one of the first things an agent (or anybody else in the late 70s) did was put Pachmyr compacts on them.

I paid 450 for my 13-3 that was ingood shape in the box with all the goodies. I thought I got it for a great price considering I am in California

I bought my 3" 13-2 about 2 years ago and paid right around $500. at the time. It is in high condition and had rubber grips.
I have not seen one for sale since and am glad I made the deal.
The 13-3s and up come and go and seem to be much more common,
or, at least they used to be.

Wood grips are easy to come by and relatively easy to fit.
So the gun is the most important part of the equation.

If your glok is a $400. gun then you will make a good deal.

It's not quite as nice as Shooting4life's is, no box, no papers. I just really like 3" revolvers. My Glock 35 is pretty much mint as only having 1 mag ran thru it. I think I may be letting my lust for a 3" M13 getting the best of my common sense.

Remember, you can never pay to much for a Smith.......you just maybe buy them a little early.

In the Atlanta area, 3" M13s (&3" 10s, 65s, less so 64s) are scarce and expensive. Glocks are plentiful. Somewhere in the 500 range wouldn't be unsual around here. I'd go for it in a second.

A 3" model 13 is about the most useful, no-nonsense revolver you can carry just about anywhere! I had a 13-4 and sold it for well over $500 with box, docs, etc.
I still have my trusty 13-3 3" and doubt I'd ever part with it.
I've been focusing on things other than firearms lately but if a P&R 13 3" as you describe were to pop up I'd find a way to own it.

The mod 13-2 on the right is factory nickel, recessed, not pinned. On the left is a 65-3

I traded a glock for the 13, and under 300 for the 65, but that was a deal and a half.
