HOW DO YOU GUYS STORE/DISPLAY YOUR PRESENTATION CASES?
Here is a question, how do you store your presentation cases? Do you store them with the pistols inside, or separately? How about displaying them? Do you display your pistols in the cases, or separately? Do you display with the lids open, or closed?

I don't display mine, I put a good coat of wax on 'em and just stack 'em up on top of my safe with a layer of cloth between each case.

I have mine stored in a spare closet. One thing to never do is store your revolver in one of them for a long period of time as it can lead to pitting. I bought a 29-2 with 6 inch barrel that had pitting (small amout) on the cylinder and a few freckles on the frame caused by doing that. Other then that it was in wondeful condition and is my shooter 44 mag.

I have had a couple in mixed gun and knife displays behind glass with the lids propped open about a 1/5 of the way. The air is dry here , the display area has constant temp, the guns are cleaned, lubed and Renaissance waxed. I never keep any gun in a closed case or in any nearly air tight container which could trap the moisture which is always present from the cooling and warming. I have to have some of my toys where I can enjoy them.

I guess it depends on where you live as the guy I bought from lived in a very humid place and the foam absorded moisture and damaged the 29-2. I also think if you keep them waxed it may have prevented the damage also.

My wife took the one for the 4" M29-2 and uses it for a jewelry case.
The other one is on a shelf in the reloading room. They were in the presentation cases till I got a safe.
One of these days I'll try to find new interiors for both.

Like this. Boxes/tools seperate from the guns. I put a 3/5 card in the emty box to show which gun it goes with.

Here is what I do an has worked with no problems at all. Called S&W and ordered around 25 sheets of the brown vapor block paper that the guns come wrapped in. The cost was like 30 cents a sheet if I remember correctly. Then I lay the gun on a piece of the paper and trace around its profile with a pencil and cut that out with scissors and place it in the bottom of the case liner. You may have to trim a little here and there to get the fit right and cut another piece to fit the lid. I wax and lube my guns, place them in the cases and lay the sheet on top. No issues that way, the metal is in the paper and not the flocking. Here are a couple of examples I photographed that were on the top of the stack. Bob
