Model 10 age and any issues?
I'm considering a model 10 seria# 8D912xx that looks in good condition. Are there any issues with this model that I should look out for? Any idea as to birth year?
Thanks guys, love this forum!!

1981. Probably a 10-8. Should have a pinned barrel. There are no, repeat no, inherent problems with the Model 10. Everything depends on asking price and condition. Great revolvers.

Great revolver. All the bugs (if there were any) had been worked out of the model by the time this one was made.
So if it has not been horribly abused (like soaked in sea water) it should serve you well for years to come.
It's a very common revolver, so if the price isn't right, there will always be another one.

Well, maybe. It could just as easily be a Model 10-7. It depends on the weight of the barrel.

He's asking just under $400. Is that about right?

Hard to tell without pictures, but $400 is potentially reasonable if the finish and mechanics are 90% or better . . .

Most likely shipped Jan 1982, maybe a month earlier.

Can't beat an m10, dependable as they come. Here is my "seasoned" model 10-5 from 1977. She's a tack driver

There's a great thread from a few months back entitled "The obiquitous Model 10". Check it out and enjoy.
