Default 64-3, ADH1484, need id help

Help. I tried the revolver chart posted here a few days ago, but in the infant stage of my revolver appetite, I cannot make sense of the number. Please help! I am getting drawn to the fixed sight feel. It's clean, and at this point, i just need to be inside the outer ring to be happy.

I have a 64-3, so maybe I can help. What's your question?

Was mainly looking for vintage year id. thx

Elliott, since you ask. I have large hands, how is the length of the round butt grip fit? Also, is there anything to look for in particular on a 64-3 before purchase?
thx

I'm not aware of any specific problems unique to the 64-3. Mine was a police trade-in, not new, so I just looked for any obvious signs of abuse. Mine is a 4" heavy barrel, so it has a square butt. It came with the tiny factory Magna stocks, which I replaced with Crimson Trace laser grips. Those are much more hand-filling, and really improved the aesthetics. If you don't like the skinny Magna stocks and don't want to invest in laser grips, try the Pachmayr Gripper or Gripper Professional; the Professionals leave the backstrap exposed and are 10% smaller than the regular Gripper. I have the Gripper Professionals on my 15-3, which is a K frame just like the 64, and I like them very much. I hope this helps.
