New Ahrend... too bulky?
I feel like the grip is just too big for this gun. Everything about this gun just seems svelte. Are these too big and bulky? I'm thinking of trying them on my 64 and swapping them around:

Looks good.....
They look great to me!!! Love the Ahrends grips....have a pair on my M19 and M625JM.
In my mind the big question is: how do they feel in YOUR hands?

I can see how they might dig into you if you were to carry IWB, but as has been said already, the question is how they feel to you. I've found that I tend to see things as pretty when they work well!

"Do these pants make my butt look big?"
"No, no. I'm pretty sure it's your butt..."
Try the grips on the 64. If you like the feel and the look on the 64, cool. Now you need to buy a new set for the J-Frame anyway. Get something a little more streamlined, (like a banana?) that both looks and feels good..

I think this is the best swap from one to the other I have ever done. I may go to some walnut or rosewood Altamonts instead of the bonded ivory. Maybe.
M10-5 Altamont bonded ivory with BK Grip Adapter:
M64 Ahrends cocobolo square butt boot with finger grooves:
Mo' betta...

The wood on the 64 feels much more at home for the size. The magnas with BK on the lighter gun feel more natural in my hand. Won't know until I hit the range with some more of my own home brew ammo though... Shall see!!!!

Look too big?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like Craig Spegal's grips. He has additional configurations.

Barbouka - I found a set of those local and if they didn't feel so slick in my hand I would have sold my left foot to take them home. But my mitts just didn't feel like they would fair well under recoil. They sure did look good though. Just like yours do.

Spegal stocks
Thanks MB54. I live in the same town where Novak Sights is located. They carry Craig's grips so I was able to examine them firsthand. I then called Craig and placed an order. Saved some dollars and got to talk to a good guy. Mine don't feel slick. Maybe after a few trips to the range? I also am interested in Kurac's work. Wish I could see some of them up close.

If that is a round-butt frame, the Ahrends round butt or boot grip would be more proportional and probably more comfortable to shoot too. The square butt "Retro Combat" grips you have give better wrist support, but that's not necessary for 4" barrels or shorter.

Kurac's:
Ok, that's not the gun for them, but I'm saving them for a someday N frame that is nickel plated. Sigh, someday...

They are both square butt versions.

Don't have to trust me, do a search on Kurac for more pic candy. Some of his stuff looks more amazing. Mine is Gaboon Ebony and the finish is so good you can just detect the grain. In sunlight it looks even better. At some point I'm going to find a nickel 27 maybe and slap them on there and have a stunner.

the finger groove seem to make the bulky; try the ones without. mine are fine without the grooves on the 629: 4"
