Default Bill Davis custom model 10

What is a reasonable price range. At present, the revolver is dao.

Would changing this arrangement to single action/double action
affect its resell value?

Any help will be appreciated.

Bill made an accurate revolver. Hard to sell over 500.00, bought a well used PPC for 300.00 recently by someone in Piqua Ohio, very accurate. I'd say under 450.00 for the Davis. Single or DOA, no price difference. Larry

Changing the configuration, DA to SA or the other way, will ruin the gun most of the time. The "magic" of the gun is the trigger work. Most of the work involves the trigger and hammer, smooth as butter. If you change the parts to something else you loose the custom work.

Most of these guns have such nice triggers that you dont need SA, DA will spoil you

I have been looking for a Davis slab side M-64, they seem to be around $600 is in good shape.

Default Bill Davis Model 10

Thanks for the info on pricing of this gun. My opinion now is to learn to shoot DAOs.

The gun in not worth as much as I thought. I traded a gun which cost me
$500.00 for it. So I am at the break even point.

As fine a work as they are, it is still a custom gun, which means lower value. Bill Davis did excellent work. Part of that work is the action. Do not change it.

Smile Bill Davis custom

About 20 some years ago i ordered a mod 13 3in S&W.At the time it was the cheapest gun I could buy to have it turned into a ppc gun .I sent it to Bill and had his slab sided barrel and rib with adjustable front and rear sights and double action only trigger.I shot it for 15 years in the NC Police Pistol Combat league, and made the NC GOVERNORS 20 all 15 years finnishing no 3 my last year .The only thing i ever had to do was replace the role pin that held the firing pin into the hammer. The revolver has had over 15,000 rounds fired through it and will still out shoot any current manufactured gun made today. The gun and having Bill Davis build it cost me $ 875 in the 1980's.And I would NOT sell it for that today. That's just how good Bill Davis Customs are to me.I have always wished I had gotten him to make me another one .

Default Bill Davis

removing the trigger stop converts it from double action only to single/double action.

To go back to dao, simply put the trigger stop screw back on an
adjust as needed.

The double action function still works the way it did.

My Davis custom is a true Double action only .There is no single action notch on the hammer and trigger. So If I wanted s/a d/a trigger capabilities I would have to put in a new hammer and trigger and have someone to do a trigger job on it.After shootig mine for so lond I really prefer double action shooting over single action.

Default Howdy

Howdy,
I was rooting around this week looking for a kit gun and saw that Cabela's of Hazelwood, MO. has a Davis gun listed for $429.00.
I think I know a little history on the gun but I have not seen it in person so I can't say for sure.
It looks like a nice one.
Best of luck.
Mike
