1971 Ad. What model is this?
“The only two machines in the world that can do this job right.”
What a great ad. One of my favorite’s that ran in 1971 during the Bangor Punta years. I’m posting it here in the revolver section but if it belongs in another area of the forum, please move. I’ve been trying to figure out what model revolver is featured. Looks like it might be a model 19 with a 3 inch barrel but I am not sure... Any guesses?

Shrouded ejector rod, thinking K frame... possibly a 19.

I was thinking a 19 too but I can't tell if the muzzle end of the barrel has the ramp sight. It looks almost unfinished... hard to tell.

I'm gonna say a 3-1/2 inch model 27. The extractor rod shroud is too beefy to be on a K frame, the cylinders look to be 357 magnum sized, it's a big frame, and the spacing between the cylinders looks to be the same as on my 28-2. The model 27 was one of their flagship firearms. Makes sense that they would use it for one of their ads like this. And seeing as Dirty Harry didn't come out until the very end of 1971, this ad likely came out before the Model 29 bug bit everyone. Just my thoughts

Agree, longer barrel and the underlug/shroud goes nearly all the way to the muzzle end, so a 3.5" model 27.

Kind of think those two machines have been lost over time at least when it comes to fine watches and guns. That's why I wear a 1972 Rolex and accumulate pre-1990 Smiths.

They definitely have been lost. I'm currently majoring in manufacturing, and it is definitely very hands off now. The only work I've done or been taught to do by hand is just removing sharp edges from finished parts. It's very disappointing. Nothing is made quite as well anymore, and all in the name of cutting costs and keeping relative prices the same. I sure would have loved to be one of those fitters though
