I've recently bought a Smith and Wesson revolver, and made a one-two hour google search to find a production year list for this 29-2, but with none or very little success.
May this forum help help me out?
While I was cleaning and oiling it yesterday, I discovered some characters and digits. Think the numbers on the stirrup are N4*6.
Thanks for any information.
Regards,
Jon

I think a lot of people in the USA would enjoy hearing about how you acquired it and any history you may have about your 29. You list Norway as your home. Are you a citizen?
Handgun ownership is different in all countries. I've been to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. It's good to know personal ownership is still available there.
Many hand-loaders, including myself, use gun powders manufactured in Norway and Sweden... Very good powder....
Smith & Wesson revolvers are quite "abundant" here in Norway since Colt stopped producing DA revolvers. I bought my first revolver back in 1982 (29-2 6" blue). I had just discovered Elmer Keith and his fascination with the .44 magnum, and I was hooked This revolver was sold in 89 and I have regretted it ever since. Are now waiting for the local LEO to sign the necessary papers, so I can finally replace the "lost" revolver.
