Mod 60 Chiefs Special NIB unfired value help
Hello brand new member here, very nice site here. My question is on value of this pistol I want to buy, 3" stainless,5 shot, 1978 paperwork inc., all papers, box, wax wraper ect. never fired from the original owner/purchaser. I know I am getting a good deal at my price I just like to know maybe how good, I am in California , so here this is an "off rosster" gun, so I wonder on California value and the rest of the states value. I plan on not firing this at all due to the perfect condition of the whole package. Thank you in advance !

$450-$525 range around here, though there is a guy that brings one to all the local shows with a $999.99 price. It hasn't sold.
I got mine 18 months ago for $430

If it is in the condition you describe, I would agree with the $500 price range.

It's only worth that much because it's a 3", the 1 7/8" would not bring that much.

If its a straight-up .38 Special 3" model 60 from the 1970's or 1980's, its a very hard to find variant. I paid over $500.00 for mine this year and it is the only one I have ever seen in person.
see: 3" model 60

The one I am transfering is a model 60-1, is this the one on the link LC added where it says only 172 were produced? Or could the 60-1 be still common. I think it is a light bbl. Thanks

I have never seen one with a tapered barrel. It's almost certainly a square-butt, heavy barrel. As to what to pay for it, like anything else, it depends on how badly you want it. When they came out, the few I saw just sat around. No one wanted them. These days, a few lines on the internet can make a collectible out of almost anything. If you think you are getting a good deal, you are.

Jon Jovino 3" HB , M-60 SQ butt...
The 1978 paperwork would suggest yours is surely one of the early 3" guns.
But ......in 1984 Jon Jovino a big east coast supplier did a special run of Square butt M-60's. One a standard 2" the other a 3" HB model. I don't think this run is even listed in the current SCS&W.
The 3" gun.
And heres the two and three inch guns together.
I've posted before...But anyone know how many of these were made??

My pistol that I jus put in hte now long 10 day wait at the local gunshop fits the serial # range of the above link. R571xx , my questions now are what does this do to value as it sits unfired ever, box all papers ,cleaning tool ect. from the original owner purchaser to me and does this mean 1972 mfg. for sure as I am not to much of a expert on guns in the first place. Any further help would be nice !

If I ever find one of those square butt model 60s with 1 7/8" barrel for under a thousand bucks, I am going to own it.
It's my personal "holy grail" of J frames .

minermax, if you hover your mouse pointer over one of your photos on Photobucket a box will appear with several options. The bottom option will be "IMG code", place your pointer on the info in that box and click it, it will copy the link and then you can past it into your forum message. Give it a try.

As promised better picture,(kind of) I still cannot figure out how to highlight more than one picture at a time to have multiple pictures in one post, so at this point I only know how to place one picture in a post/comment at a time. Anyone able to explain ?

Just use the small blue arrow upper left corner to return to photobucket, or if you have left it completely just click on your photobucket icon in your favorites select the addition photo that you want to post by using the same method posted above then return to your post and add it under your other picture.
If you use the edit function, you have to save it first then access it again to add another photo.
